Does the Bible really teach that focusing on your last days prevents sin?

I get an idea from that verse, which is that if you want to stop yourself from breaking God's law with things like alcohol, or weed, or over indulgence on food, think about how you will feel about yourself when you view yourself in the mirror, if you did this every single day for 2 hours a day for a week... and use that future week post mark to determine whether you should do that activity now.

Like before I learned how to control my weight on cruise ships, I did not enjoy going on cruises, because I knew losing the weight would be a head ache after I finished my vacation and would lead to low degree suffering and discomfort.
