How should Christians understand God blessing those who bless Abraham?

In the bible God tells Abraham that he will bless those who bless him and he will punish those who curse him.

My friends at church told me, this blessing is not just for the Jews, it is for every gentile who follows Jewish teachings like hard work, humbleness, honesty, kindness, modesty, respect, and the desire to help others.

Like I had a cousin spend $5000 on gifts for me when I was 16 years old, and she later got into an Ivy League school and became a Wall Street manager.

I had a friend that would always support me and be kind to me when I was an outcast and he got a medical degree and two Ivy League degrees after doing his bachelors at U of T.

I had another friend that would always go out of her way to support me and she got a PhD at a top American school and is now a dean at a college.

My cousin believed she was infertile for over 10 years but when she bought me birthday gifts 3 years in a row, she got pregnant with a girl and gave birth to her and is now she is a mom to healthy and happy infant.
