According to Greek sources, during the Ottoman era, a Greek child once sang the adhan (call to prayer) as if it were just a song. The Turks who gathered around him said, 'What a beautiful voice you have, you are now a Muslim.' When the child replied, 'No, I am not,' they said, 'Now you have apostatized and become an infidel,' and executed him

Sounds like a fake story to me tbh. I know Turks could be brutal on the battlefield but I seriously doubt they'd kill a defenseless kid over something so stupid.
And yeah of course Greek history books always tell the truth right? I find it hard to believe everything they teach when they seem to raise entire generations hating Türkiye. It's not like Greeks never killed Turks or burned down villages either. But I don't think history in Türkiye is taught with that much hatred toward one specific country.
I just wish Greeks would move on and focus on their own future instead of spending another century hating Turks. Honestly I wouldn't even be surprised if Greece started the next war between us. I've never seen another country so obsessed with one neighbor.
LOL. You know it's fabricated by some Christian who didn't understand how the process works.
You cannot be "crowd accepted" as a Muslim. You can only be one if you have willingly given your declaration of faith, and have a witness to it.
A child cannot give a declaration without it's guardian or caretaker either. Nor could a "crowd" give summary judgement in the street during the era of the Ottoman empire.
Hence the story fails on many levels.
People used to believe that words had real power & oaths had spiritual implications behind them. It's absolutely something the Ottomans would do, as they made a practice out of slaying their own brothers (even babies) so nobody could challenge them to the throne.
Sounds about as retarded as they'd think. I can see it.
Turks killed all those Armenian kids so yeah it happened
@meraksahibi That sounds very fake story to me.
Neither do you sound Muslim. Lol
@meraksahibi
You sure are fake Muslim. All your questions are to anti-muslim just to spread hate.
Dreaming to get $7000? 😂
I am a Muslim. If you look at my previous questions, you'll see how strongly I oppose the classic head-chopping stereotype and how much I argue with people about it. On top of that, I do this using the other side's own sources (Kennedy, Lewis).
On the other hand, this incident is mentioned in church stories; I had read about it in Philip Mansel's book as well.
If you ask for my opinion: if you don't believe that the Prophet split the moon, you shouldn't believe in an incident like this either
That is a believable story.
How would anyone know?
I have zero doubt it did it would have happened.
Probably
