I will share my main thoughts on the subject in the update.

it is explicitly stated in the bible

Luke 23:33 - 23:43
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Matthew 28
1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me

Jesus was not crucified. God compared another person who told him where he was to Jesus and killed him. Jesus was brought up to God. for doomsday to come

There is not a correct answer, but there is a good probability that it was happened.
The Gospels were probably written in the years between 70 AD (Mark) and about 100 AD (John). The letters of Paul of Tarsus, probably written in a period ranging from 50-51, in which he wrote the First Letter to the Thessalonians, to 65, constitute the most ancient Christian sources. But Paul of Tarsus never knew any Jesus of Nazareth.
Gospels are not historical sources.
Tacistus and Josephus are historical sources.
Tacitus reports in the Annales precise information, from a source that is not known to us, this made it writing less reliable:
«The founder of this sect, Christ, had been tortured under the reign of Tiberius, by order of the procurator Pontius Pilate. Momentarily repressed, the fatal superstition broke out again not only in Judea, the cradle of evil, but in Rome itself ".
The writings of Josephus contain more interesting information. Especially interesting is the Testimonium flavianum, a short passage contained in Jewish Antiquities.
Josephus writes: “He states in the treatises that he wrote on the government of the Jews “ In this time there lived a wise man who was named Jesus, and his conduct was blameless, and he was known as a virtuous man. And many among the Jews and other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and die. And those who had become his disciples did not abandon their loyalty to him. They related that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive. Consequently they believed that he was the Messiah, whose wonders the Prophets had told "
Crucifixion was a common practice of torture for slaves, by subversives and foreigners. As foreigners we mean all those who did not have Roman citizenship. Which at the time was reserved only for Italians (excluding Sicily and Sardinia) and those who had acquired citizenship in some way (e. g. Paul of Tarsus). Jesus of Nazareth was a foreigner and a subversive, so the fact that he was crucified seems obvious.
Subsequently, after the Constitutio Antoniniana of the evil Caracalla, the crucifixion was expanded to all the subjects of low classses of the empire who acquired Roman citizenship. It was abolished in 341 AD by the Emperor Constantine.
Tombs, sepulchres or other are things that were discovered under the emperor Constantine, therefore almost 300 years after the death of Jesus of Nazareth. The veracity of these places is doubtful. The veracity of Calvary and Golgotha, on the other hand, is plausible.
very nice article. We think in almost the same direction as you. According to the Qur'an, Jesus was not crucified. He was taken up to heaven by God with his body and soul. The person crucified was a man very much like Jesus. They mistook him for Jesus and crucified him. And again, according to the Qur'an, Jesus will descend from the sky close to the end of the day, and after correcting all the mistakes in Christianity and directing his people to Islam, he will die in real terms.
I believe he was crucified. He has no tomb, he rose from the dead.
The reason: ultimately to be the propitiation for the sins of the world in order to bring those who accept Jesus as Lord and savior into a right standing with God, whom right standing cannot be had with without the shedding of blood to wash completely away sins.
That said I strongly suspect all of the players in Jesus death had no idea what his death was really about. For Ciaphias, the Chief priest who swayed the crowd against Jesus at his trial, I think he had complicated motivations. He and many of the scribes and sadducees and Pharisees saw the miracles he performed and dared to level accusations of sin against him, on one occasion for healing on the sabbath. They seemed unsure if he was a prophet or who exactly he was. They surely seemed to take objection after clearing up their confusion by him stating he was equal to God, that he was God’s son and the messiah. I think due to pride they did not accept him and expected him to also be a military conquer who would overthrow Rome and set up his own kingdom. He will in the future be king, but the last time he came he had a different mission, to redeem the lost sheep of Israel. Many times he corrected all the scribes and Sadducees and Pharisees. So I think pride factored in there into setting him up for execution. I think his teachings were contrary to Ciaphias who also likely did not like his authority questioned nor his position as chief priest threatened by a man with a message that was different and more appealing than what Judaism became at that time.
Ultimately, the Jews could have wanted Jesus dead all they liked, nothing would happen without Rome’s consent.
That brings us to Pilate. He was the prefect of Judea. At this time in Rome’s history, they ruled through puppet kings. Herod was king of Judea. Under Roman rule at this time they were allowed a degree of autonomy. Herod ruled Judea and Pilate was like a governor of sorts who oversaw Rome’s interests. It was he that gave the nod for Jesus crucifixion. Why? I think he feared a revolt. Especially when the Jews shouted they wanted him crucified. Last thing Pilate wanted was Rome’s disapproval, so to pacify the Jews he had Jesus crucified. Last thing he needed was a revolt showing the weakness for his ability to govern on Rome’s behalf.
Crucifixion was a relatively common method of execution in the Roman Empire all the way through the 4th century AD, and putting the victims in prominent locations (hilltops, along roads, town squares, etc) was normal for over a millenia later, and still is in some countries. Crucifixion was also notably reserved for non-Romans, slaves, and Christians (being a Judean, this would apply to Jesus), while Romans had a wider variety of brutal though usually faster execution methods for their own and others, in all cases often after physical torture.
He was preaching a message of hope and universal brotherhood, which defied the will of the ruling empire. Fearing that the Remans would think Him a rebel, and His support universal, and destroy the Jews as a religious identity (a reasonable fear, given how they reacted to Christianity), they had him arrested atd executed; the charge would be the equivalent of conspiracy or inciting to sedition or somesuch these days.
The tomb in which He was laid to rest (do they have AirBNB for tombs?) is not known, thoughtdere are some likely candidates; they didn't keep detailed records of condemned criminals back then, and much was destroyed in the Judean revolt of forty years later.
At that time, crucifiction was a way the Romans killed their criminals. The Pharisees disliked Jesus because he defied their authority, and was making converts. The Pharisees convinced the Roman authorities to execute Jesus.
No. Nor does the bible actually say he was.
You see, crucifixion kills by mass haemorrhage, as the legs are broken with a sledge hammer prior to the convict being taken down. But the bible says he was just "lanced to the side". We know people recover from stab wounds more frequently than not.
Thus, Big Jes was not fully crucified according to the bible.
The legs are only broken if the victim is still alive. Jesus was dead so they didn't bother. The spear was thrust into his side for confirmation of his death as blood and water came out showing his blood was separating into serum which only occurs at death. The Bible say that after Jesus uttered "The debt has been paid." he died.
There is historical evidence that a man named Jesus lived at a time when crucifixion was a popular means of punishment, though there is no scientific evidence (yet) that Jesus was crucified on the cross as described in the New Testament.
Having said that, the New Testament stories do describe Jesus' crucifixion, which is the basis for Christian beliefs.
Therefore, I tend to believe the stories that Jesus WAS crucified.
Well considering the fact that the actor that played Jesus christ in the movie "the passion of the christ" was struck by lighting while filming sorta symbolizes that maybe the movie was insulting to christ or a sort of mock to Jesus or who knows, maybe it symbolized something else, unless you believe in coincidences I believe Jesus was crucified
Correction, he was struck by lighting twice* lol
I think jesus was a real guy, but a very spiritual man that lived up to what his morals for living life were and felt the need to share it with others. I would not be suprised if he was crucified, i believe it was possible. But i dont see that he rose up from death.
To be honest
I think the Vatican (you know where the Pope lives) made up the whole Bible and everything for power and control over people.
Think about it.
They are one of the most powerful group in the world. They have so much control over stuff. That you'll shit yourself if you only knew
assuming that jesus actually was a real person that existed, that's very likely. cause that's what the romans did with traitors like jesus. because what jesus did was campaigning for davids kingdom aka gods kingdom aka the legal rulership of the 12 jewish tribe leaders which was really not appreciated by the roman occupants of the time. there were many people like jesus who were crucified for this exact reason at the time.
I'm an ignostic (not agnostic) secular Humanität.
Humanist*
I do without doubt. And I believe he rose from dead.
I won't go long. My faith is not a subject for debate. I had an authentic salvation experience several years ago during which The Creator liberated me from a pagan belief system. Since then, I have never questioned my faith. While I remain a sinner, I know what sin is and seek to avoid it.
There is no such thing in the Quran. but God sent down food from the sky for the apostles, then God said to the prophet Jesus, whoever is ungrateful among you, we will punish him in the most severe way. then one of the apostles told the place of jesus prophet and the prophet jesus was raised to the sky then the face of the person who told the place of jesus turned into prophet Jesus and that person was crucified instead of Jesus
I said no to the crucifixion of the prophet Jesus.(in the Quran
Jesus prophet was not crucified according in the Qur'an

The Romans crucified vast numbers of people but we've only found a couple of skeletons. If jesus existed it's plausible he met the same fate
I'm skeptical that Jesus existed at all, as there are no contemporaneous accounts. We do have writings from Romans of the time but none mention anyone stirring up Palestine. News did travel through the empire but no one wrote anything about Jesus.
Proverbs 13:4
A sluggard's appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
God helps those who help themselves...
Probably. Crucification is kind of a real thing those days. But apart from that, I don't know even if there was a person living in that area called Jesus, a son of God no less.
It's possible. There's been several candidate tombs found over the centuries. The most recent was only a few years ago (1999) and a ridiculous documentary was released in 2007 about it.
The Lost Tomb Of Jesus.
Bear in mind it's full of bullshit, claims to have never-before-revealed information which even the archaeologist who found the thing says is bullshit. (He included everything in the original paper published in 1999.)
Watch it if you want. I don't recommend it.
I believe this man existed & I also think they killed him because he spoke truth to the powers of his age. People with things to hide abhor such a person & will go to great lengths to silence them.
I think so. I could always be one of those people and research to try to disprove it, but I'm ok with how the faith was laid out to me growing up. So I keep what I know.
Hiding? What am I hiding from?
I'm asking you sir 😂😂😂😂
@Smartman5: "You don't need to hide what you know. why are you hiding After all, it's not a secret."
I think you misread her
"I'm ok with how the faith was laid out to me growing up. So I keep what I know."
Yes Jesus was crucified and after he died was berried and rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven and he sits at Gods right hand.
As a Muslim, no I don't believe in the crucifixion of the Prophet Jesus. I was raised Catholic and it never added up to me.
Everyone is born Muslim. Then my parents baptised me Catholic.
My friend in HS gave me dawah. I took shahaddah after uni. I moved to Morrocco 2 years ago.
@Snsl153 hahahahaha
@GlassTop Exactly, a person just born doesn't have any beliefs of any kind, and when it comes to the topic of God they wouldn't even know what that was. Atheism is an absence of belief in God. Babies don't believe in God. I never "made a decision" to become an atheist, because that was what I had always been by default.
@Snsl153 in my opinion, atheism is hatred of God. It’s a satanic religion of anti-god. Atheists are very vocal about how much they don’t believe in God and even try to convert people. A logical person who isn’t clear about the universe would be agnostic. They aren’t sure if there is a God or not. The universe is too complex for it to be accidental chance.
@Snsl153 you can hate something that doesn’t exist 😂. Atheists don’t believe God exists but they do hate the idea of him in every shape and form. People blame God for everything and say he is the most evil because he created everything. I like Darth Vader. I hate his wife though. She was annoying. I also hate all the new star wars films.
Yes Jesus was real. Yes he was crucified. There is huge impact of the world for this man not to have existed. It’s not Santa where we can’t trace him. There is archeological evidence for him and his followers.
How many people were crucified back in that time and if Jesus was a real person chances are he would’ve been crucified he had walked around saying he was the son of a deity.
Yes jesus is a fabrication. It’s a plagiarized version of the fable about the Egyptian god of the sun.
I am sure there were many people in that time named jesus but not a single one of them was ever the guy mentioned in the bible.
That story is a direct ripoff of the story of horus.
Yes, I do. He was crucified because He (rightly) claimed Himself to be the Son of God.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is where He is believed to have been buried.
On what authority do you make these claims?
A Muslim's duty is to tell the truth. As a Muslim, I am telling the truth. Also, Jesus was not crucified. He ascended to heaven physically and spiritually before the event. The person crucified was another man like Jesus. that is, he made the man who betrayed Jesus into the image of god Jesus. near the end of the world, Jesus will come to the world and after correcting the wrong things in Christianity, he will lead his people to Islam and will literally die.
Okay. So then tell me where the idea of these fabrications comes from.
Your ideas are Christian fabrications. They have gone astray enough to accept Jesus as their god. they just claim that Jesus is the son of god. They have no concrete evidence. and Jesus never said he was the son of god. Since there is more than one Bible today, how do we know which one is correct? God only sent one Bible. but the Christians changed that many times. my ideas come from the Qur'an, which has never changed and will never change. Allah sent one Qur'an and now there is only one Qur'an. Since the previous books were changed by people, Allah sent the Qur'an last and the Qur'an remains in its original form as on the first day. no one has changed it and cannot change it. It also contains the Bible, Torah and Psalms in the Qur'an. Those who are curious about other books will only need to look at the Qur'an.
@smartman
You know what’s interesting. Your coming mahdi fits our Christian description of the Antichrist. Your coming Mahdi will be our Antichrist.
Jesus said repeatedly he was the son of God and not only that but claimed equality with God.
“This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.”
John 5:18 ESV
There are 2 Bibles. The Catholic version which has 4 additional books called the apocrypha and the non Catholic version which doesn’t have them. That was the result of debate. It’s no different than in Islam with Suni and Shi’ite. Same with Catholic and Protestant over a debate of theology, and likewise the Catholics accept those books and the Protestants don’t. Otherwise they are exactly the same.
The Bible otherwise has never been changed and our copies match the most ancient copies word for word.
Your Quran does not contain the Bible. It has some elements of the Bible in it, but not all or even most of it.
@smartman
Now I have some questions for you. Since Jesus, who is mentioned in the Quran as Isa and since you claim your Quran contains the Bible why then do you try so hard to discredit it? If your faith is based on ours that doesn’t help you does it?
Your entire religion is a lie. Mohammad got in trouble in Mecca and fled to Madina. While he was there he needed to get some troops. What better way to get people on his side then invent a tale about how he encountered the moon god Allah on his way to Medina? Allah after all was the most popular god in the Arabian peninsula at that time.
Also, tell me what the Jizya is. Tell BC ranger how it’s a tax on non Muslims living in Muslim lands and must be paid under penalty of death. That’s your religion of peace.
Tell BC Rangers how you all lie about the crusades. Tell him how the Seljuk Turks where conquering the Byzantine Empire and how the Emperor, Alexis Kommonos I appealed to fellow Christian’s through the pope for help, but yet all Muslims carry on to this day, 1000 years later as if this just happened and as if you were not the aggressors in that series of wars. Don’t forget to mention how the Muslims had conquered half of Spain and Sicily, and how the Muslims had long invaded Europe and were looking to take down the Byzantines, and all of Europe to follow.
Tell BC rangers about how women accused of adultery in Arabia must touch their tongues to hot frying pans, and if the tongue blisters it shows she’s guilty and is stoned to death.
Tell us all how Islam is a religion of peace and does not commission the killing of Muslims by non Muslims.
Tell us all about conversion by the sword and it’s historical impact.
Tell us all how many Europeans were sold as slaves in Istanbul under the Ottoman Empire.
Tell us all about the coming Mahdi and the black flags and the mass beheadings that will come and how the Mahdi will kill the false Jesus, our Jesus, our Lord.
Jesus did not claim to be the son of God. He said he was a prophet of God. and his first miracle is that he was born without a father.
@Smartman5 For the third time, I will ask you politely to provide the evidence. I, for one, will cite Mark 14:61-62, when Jesus is asked directly UNDER OATH if He is the Christ, the Son of God, to which He replies "I am". I will also cite John 1:1-14, which states that "... the Word was God... and the Word became flesh."
John 8:58 - "... before Abraham was, I AM."
John 19:7 - " The Jews answered him (Pontius Pilate) 'We have a law and by that law, he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God."
I don't believe for one second that you're being disingenuous or insincere, but unless you can tell me when, where, how, and by whom these alleged fabrications were made, simply telling me that you're duty-bound as a Muslim to tell the truth doesn't mean jack to me.
Why is the book of the Muslims not the proof while your own book is the proof? moreover, there are many kinds of bibles. Which one do you believe?
@Erron_Black Primarily because the Bible, which precedes the Qu'ran by several centuries and was formally approved by the Catholic Church - itself established by Jesus Christ Himself - says, in Saint Paul's letter to the Galatians that even if an angel from Heaven should preach a gospel different than that which has already been announced, "let him be accursed". This is why I unequivocally and without hesitation do now and will forever reject both Islam and Mormonism (those two in particular).
And if you are referring simply to different translations, I see no spiritual danger. One edition might say "a six-foot-tall man wears a green shirt", while another might say "a man, seventy-two inches of height, has donned a garment of blue and yellow mix". It's substantially the same thing.
we do not reject Jesus. We believe in the miracles of Jesus. There are 3 4 Bibles today. which one should we believe? God's son cannot be his daughter etc. Allah is only one. Jesus is his messenger.
@Erron_Black That's exactly it though. As a Catholic, I acknowledge Him as the Son of God Who took on our flesh, suffered and died for us, and feeds us with His Body and Blood in Holy Communion. Muslims simply believe Him to be a mere prophet, just a messenger. Even if they do believe in His miracles, the miracles in and of themselves are not the object.
And I'm not sure where you're getting the "daughter" stuff from.
As for the Bible? I've already established that when I discussed the different manners of translation. The substance of what was said remains intact, even though the wording is different. If you're referring to, say, the Douay-Rheims translation or the King James Version, Martin Luther removed several books from the Bible, which as I already said, was issued by the Church centuries before the aforementioned heretic was born.
I said that there can be no son or daughter of God. He is not a creative person. not the greek gods. If you say jesus is the son of god, you accept jesus as god. and you wouldn't believe in one god.
@Erron_Black The Catholic Church does not now, nor has she ever believed that Jesus is a "created being". We believe that He is co-eternal with God the Father. The Church professes the belief in the Holy Trinity, that there are three distinct persons in One God; they are co-natural and consubstantial. This means that they are of the same nature and the same substance.
I think I’m one book… it’s written that way.
*in one book…. Sorry.
Yes He was.
I don't know if he even existed
You don't know that
Yes he was many witness
I was not there...
yeah, that's the whole foundation of religions
Yes I do.
I think Jesus is a figment of your imagination.
More than double that don't! They've wised up and know that it's all bullshit.
