Search Results: why do nice guys finish last

Okay the reason I'm asking is because this is really an "He might, but might not" thing. Though usually I'm pretty good at being able to tell if a dude likes me.

So I have this co-worker, and at first I thought he was just being nice in almost a "you're way younger than me, so I'll look out for you" sort of thing. Though I've recently found out that he's only 6 years older than me.
Anyway, he's friendly to everyone. And he's smiled at me and always says hi to me ever since I started. However it eels like he's been trying to spend more time with me. Every now and then he asks if I work the following day, and then the following day when I work, he DOESN'T. So why would he ask if I work the next day when he doesn't even work that day?
And then as it gets later into the night (we work at a grocery store), it's mostly his job to sort things that were put back at the registers and then get them back on the shelves. However USUALLY one or two of the cashiers are able to shut off their lights to help him. I'm a cashier, and once when I was out of customers he asked the boss if I could shut out my light and help him. However what's weird about that is that it was early in the day, and so usually he wouldn't have even started the sorting until a bit later. So really I ended up going into the customer service where he worked and talking to him while I worked and he finished up with customers that needed exchanges and stuff. Then after a bit, he asked if I could just stay in there with him, even though I'd never done returns before and so probably caused more trouble than I was worth, and there were plenty of people who were in an out that could have helped him. But no he SPECIFICALLY requested me. And last, HOURS later, when he was going to put away food (usually something reserved for ONE person), he asked if I would like to go and help him. I did want too, but at the time I was helping one of the bosses get money out of the registers, and so couldn't.

There's a guy who is 25 and he's never had a girlfriend and has been rejected time and time again. he's a really nice guy who deserves a lot more than he gets. he's a nurse with a car and is very family oriented. He likes a girl a lot, but she is dating someone else. However the girl and guy one remain really close friends and she's always there to comfort him when he gets rejected or when he's sad and frustrated and vice versa. The girl only likes guy one solely as a friend and nothing more.

Guy two is 23, kind of an asshole, a jerk and a trouble maker who doesn't go to school, doesn't have a car and can't even keep a job for more than a month and he has the girl who the first guy likes a lot. He went to jail for a little bit for robbing a bank and gets into a lot of fights for no reason. He smokes, drinks and plays rough all the time.

How come the girl choose the second one instead of the first one? Why does it seem like nice guys always finish last?
