I went to a group exercise class today at the gym and there was a tense, awkward social situation. I'm friends with two people John and Sarah (fake names). They're acquaintances I've known at the gym for years and chat with, I get along well with them both.

John is a infamous stirrer, he likes to troll/take the piss out of people for fun/laughs but its neve malicious. Sarah is a nice lady in her 30s, down to earth and a lesbian.

Beginning of the class John said I was stranding beside Sarah so I could check out her ass (he was joking) to which I replied 'she's not my type'

He then shouted oh "he said you're not his type', then thought the rest of the 45 minute class sarah and john were kinda ganging up on me, jokingly asking why I wasn't her type. This was incessant and they wouldn't leave it alone.

I thought Sarah had a thick skin and wouldn't give a shit what I think, which is why I said what I said. I began to question in my mind if what I said had upset her, I was confused if they were trolling me or is she was genuinely upset.

this started to get awkward and tense, other people in the class were quietly listening, not saying anything.

After them asking me why she wasn't my type/what girls I like, I blurted out without thinking "what does she care, she's not even into guys" Sarah seemed surprised that I knew she was a lesbian (I heard it through the grapevine) she then loudly announced to everyone "yes that's right im a lesbian" afterwards she seemed a bit offended and went kinda quiet, she asked how I knew, later on she walked out of the class for a minute or two came back and left as the class ended.

If a guy asked for your number but you took his number Down instead and you decided not to use it, would you avoid him if you saw him again?

Basically there's a girl I see a lot, we use to say hi every time we saw eschother at the gym. I got the courage to ask for her number but she suggested I give her my number instead and she said she'd text me later. That text never came hence I got the impression she didn't want anything to do with me and im fine with that! So when I see her at the gym now we don't even speak or make eye contact, she acts as if she's afraid of me or something. My friends tell me to break the ice and go say hi to her. I want to do that but the way I see it is if she didn't contact me then she must not want anything to do with me so I just treat her like s stranger. So I ask you again,
