Why I Get Stressed And How I Deal With It

As a 17 year old guy, I get stressed out a lot. School, girls, how I look, all factors that cause my stress. I have my own ways of dealing with my stress that I would love to share with you guys and maybe it will help you too. Let's start of with why I get stressed out.

1.) School

This is a big one. As of right now I am a senior in high school with a 2.8 GPA and a 20 on the ACT. Yeah, I know, not good. I haven't seen any colleges (the ones I want to go to) that will even consider an application lower than a 3.0. UCF, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, none of them will probably even take a peak at what my application has to offer. My school counselors keep telling me that everything will be alright, when in reality they are making me even more stressed. In fact, this whole damn process is making me stressed. All I want to do is get into the college I want to get into, join ROTC (Navy or Army), and major in finance. Mix all this together and you get a recipe for intense stress.

2.) Girls

This one isn't too much a worry at the moment, but it still stresses me. Girls aren't attracted to me, like at all. Last year for prom, I almost didn't go because I automatically knew that no girl, who I find attractive, would want to be associated with me at prom. Eventually, my friend begged me to go and so I had to go with his sister (really awkward). Hopefully in college, girls will like me more, IF I GET INTO COLLEGE.

3.) How I look

This is how I look in terms of face appeal and body physique. Personally, I look ugly, which is probably why girls don't want to date me. I also am pretty skinny (121 pounds), but I go to the gym 4 times a week so I am pretty toned.

Now let's talk about how I deal with stress.

1.) Fix it

This is the go to method for me when I'm stressed about something. If you're stressed about something, fix it. Stressed about a test? Fix it by studying. Stressed by a job interview? Fix it by getting your act together. If it isn't something I can't fix right away or is something that I can't reverse (I.E. GPA) then I go to these next ways of dealing with stress

2.) Curl up and bitch about it

Yes ladies and gents, I want you to be a bitch. I want you to get depressed about it and rant about it. That is what I do. I would just lay in my bed and turn my stress into depression. I know that sounds depressing, but for me it is therapeutic. Getting depressed about it causes you to think about what you are stressed about which can lead to a way to solve it. Or you can rant about it to your friends or the internet.

For example, I have a 2.8 GPA at the moment and I can't change that, so I would get home from school and be depressed about it. I would miss out on parties and hanging out with friends, but that doesn't bother me too much because i'm anti-social and always think that those people at those parties probably don't want me to show up anyways. This isn't the best option for everyone, but for some people it might work.

3.) Take a break from it

Now I'm not saying go out and drink until you blackout, but go somewhere away from the thing that causes you stress. Go outside, take a walk, go to the gym, play with your pet. For me, I usually go to the gym. If you ever were to know me you would know that I am usually either at home, playing PlayStation or watching TV or doing homework, or i'm at the gym trying to get gains. Not only do I have a dream body in mind, but it is also therapeutic for me to go the gym and have no one bother me.
