I’ve been noticing more and more of this lately. I’ve seen it at the grocery store, how young woman talked to me at my old job, etc. Women being rude for no reason.

I get it some women are rude to men when they think they are being hit on (which may or may not being happening). But in just general interactions where the guy obviously has zero interest I find that women will treat him more coldly vs. some guy they find attractive.

Personally I’ve been nice to all women despite their age, body weight, looks etc. Yes I might be a bit more “extra” nice if she’s attractive. But I’m never rude to them just because I think their not (unless they give me a reason to be).

The stereotype is that men are more easily swayed to be nicer to an attractive women than vice versa. A pretty young girl is much more likely to be let off for a speeding ticket vs a guy who did the exact same thing (and treated the cop the exact same way).

But one thing I’ve noticed lately as I’ve gotten older (yeah I don’t look 24 anymore) is that women in public are generally much nastier to me for just saying “hello”. This isn’t just dating situations but talking to cashier at a grocery store or a barista. I also experienced some sexist bs at work a year ago. One of the young female employees (who I had zero interest in) was running her mouth and calling me a “creep” behind my back. She later got fired later for other reasons. But I never once did anything to antagonize her. That would of never happened when I was 24 whether I was interested in her or not.

I’ve met plenty of unattractive women in my life that I respected at work, school and sports. Some of them made me uncomfortable at times (they were flirty) but they never stepped over the line. I never said anything nasty about them. I even defended them if someone else did say something. I’m able to separate respect for what they can do vs. how they look. But if feel women struggle with this much more.

Both personal attributes have both genetic and environmental impacts. Also looks will inevitably fade with age. However there are still some very attractive older people (Jennifer Anniston & Brad Pitt defied Father Time for a long time).

But would it be tougher for a woman who is 50lbs overweight to get fit & lean? Or is it tougher for a naturally introverted and shy man to learn to be outgoing, funny and confident?

Obvious that is stereotyped for what is most attractive for each gender. Women can always improve their personalities and men can improve their physiques to be more attractive.

But in my bias opinion personality is tougher to change. Because it’s not a hard science like physical fitness. Obvious physical fitness is impacted by genetics, age and engrained eating habits. But any determined man or woman can make major improvements with changes in diet and hard exercise.

Personality change requires constant attention of your thought patterns, quick thinking responses to people, eye contact, verbal timing, tone of voice. Also your very appearance (young/old, high/low voice tone, gender, physique) in itself can impact how your personality comes across. It also requires psychological bravery/judgment on whether you need a confrontation vs. resisting saying/doing something stupid.
in my opinion personality it tougher to change. Certain occupations (military), sports and activities (theatre/improv) can influence it. But it pretty much set early in life and impacted genetically.
