It seems that we live in a fairly superficial society. Everyone wants to out do each other when it comes to romance. Who has the better boyfriend or girlfriend, who gets the most dates, blah blah blah.

I have this one friend whose boyfriend has a pretty good job. He buys her a lot of gifts and what not, though like for ME, that's never really how I've ever been. I don't particularly care for expensive gifts because I feel like I have to pay back the favor or something. AND I just don't like money being spent on me in general. But she likes it, it works for them, so good for them I guess?

But for ME, my boyfriend and I work at the same place, and so he does like a bunch of little sweet things for me a lot. I don't even think he really realizes he's doing them or how sweet he is. But like, heck, just today our supervisors were giving us candy (I still don't know why), my boyfriend grabbed my favorite kind of chocolate apparently, and then held onto it. Then later when I was working near him, suddenly something just pelted me on the chest, I look down, and there is chocolate, I look up to see who the flip just threw candy AT me, my boyfriend is just standing there grinning, he's the only one around. But think about that, he didn't even have to think about it when he decided he was going to do something nice.
For my friend, I can see why she likes the big things, it shows her dude really put a lot of thought into what would make her happy.
However I just like that my boyfriend is able to just automatically think "Oh, she would like this." When given a situation like that. I feel like it really shows how much he cares to think of me just like that.

your co workers say, she is lying and there is nothing wrong with her, she is just a drama queen.

SO: hey I really like myrtle beach and have always wanted to go and I would love to go with you.
your co workers say: myrtle beach is an awful place, no matter what don't go with your wife.

SO: hey I have so much trouble ordering this massage stick on amazon, I really want one. Can you get me one?
your co workers say: don't buy her anything for valentines day or your anniversary or her birthday or for mothers day. Just go and spend tons of money on yourself.

1. Pregnant wife falls off bike while paddling 1 hour to work and it's freezing out with pouring rain.
2. Pregnant wife has bad liver and it's inflamed along with high bile levels.
3. Wife has to go to myrtle beach all by herself with tons of random guys hitting on her.
4. Wife doesn't get a massage stick but she does buy husband star wars shirts, star wars drinking glasses and chocolate & wine along with going to husband's favorite restaurant and making husband a gift that's both meaningful and thoughtful while wife gets NOTHING.

then husband says stuff like "I always try to make you happy but you are not ever happy what is the hell wrong with you?"

I went out with my boyfriend for around a year and a half.
We went shopping the other day and there were these sunglasses he wanted to buy but didn't.
he's 27 with a good job but pretty stingy on spending money on himself.
it's his bday and our year and a half anniversary (a day before his bday) so I bought him it and hid it in his apartment cause i won't be in the same state as him on his bday.

im 22 and a student but am not tight on money. I usually dont spend too much money on gifts but I can't take him out and spend time with him on his bday plus it's a gift for both his bday and anniversary so I thought it was a good idea to get him those sunglasses. they were $180.

Do you think he would feel uncomfortable with this? or do you think it would make his day?

So I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. I'm 22 and he's 27.
I usually dont spend too much money on gifts but I'm not gonna be in the same state as him on his bday and our year and a half anniversary (which is the day before his bday).
So I pre-purchased a pair of sunglasses as a gift (it was around $200 including tax) for both of those days and I hid it in his apartment (lol) and am gonna plan on telling him to look at the place I hid it at on his birthday. He loved those sunglasses but he isn't the type to spend that much money on himself so I wanted to get them for him (I'm usually stingy on money with myself but not really on him)
it's supposed to be a gift for both his bday and our anniversary.
For people who wanna say that $200 isn't that expensive, i'm 22 and a student so it was a big decision for me.. haha

would you think this is too much? or would you be greatful and just happy?
