I've been training in MMA for two years now, but people give me a strange look when I tell them that I don't fight or like the UFC.

I got into martial arts by accident. My friend (a former cage fighter) was visiting after not seeing each other for years and he said he was back into MMA. I took interest, he brought me over to his gym (our buddy's garage with all the equipment we need) and the rest is history.

I don't fight because I just don't want to. Sure I've thought about doing some amateur local fights, but I'll NEVER go pro or join the UFC.

I don't like the UFC or any pro MMA company because I feel like they put martial arts in a bad light.

There's no more respect, no more sportsmanship, no more honor, none of that. Everyone wants to puff their chest, swing their dicks, and talk nothing but shit.

I train in martial arts to keep my mind clear and my body strong. I believe in martial art philosophy, that our gym is a sacred place where people bond and not only improve themselves but also their training partners. I also go to support my friend since brother killed himself earlier this year.

But it's hard to keep that philosophy when every young kid walks in and acts like a Conor McGregor wannabe. These piss me off the most because at least Conor McGregor has the hands to back up his shit talking, these guys just watch YouTube videos and rehearse unoriginal shit talking in front of the mirror thinking their just gonna walk in and beat everyone's ass and get a black belt in a year.

Don't get me wrong, I'll watch UFC every now and then (mostly to learn), but I hate what the UFC has done to the martial arts community.

This is from a terrifying case i read about in which a guy probably 17-18 years old groped and bullied a girl of the same age and the girl kicked him in his testicles so hard that he lost both his testicles (removed by surgery due to rupture) and also had to go through a urethral repairation surgery (8-12 hr long major surgery) to fix his broken penis. Now i feel very bad for that boy because even though what he did was very wrong but he certainly did not deserve that...
He can not have kids, Having no testicles will finish his sex life and problems like no body strength, male breast, no more masulanity and taking pills of testosterone for the rest of his life along with so many problems
Treatments and life long medicines + the surgery are aslo a lot of money he and his family has to pay now.
Where as the girl would walk away with nothing but just appreciated for her brave action.
But as i dived deeper into the case i also came across the fact that the girl knew karv maga (a form of martial arts) and could have used many other methods to run away.
As the definition of self defence is " to use the bare minimum amount of force required to run away from attacker and not harm the attacker more than he/she intended to hurt you"
Infact using exxesive force in self defence is a punishable crime.
Now i dont know what happened later on to that boy and the girl and i am very curious.
That is why i am asking you guys. What according to you should happen to them if you were in power
Ps. I really hope that the girl gets sued or at least is made to pay for his hospital bills.

I know that my efforts used to be fairly inconsistent when I was younger but I've been putting in a lot of time & effort to improve at the things I care about and I can proudly say that I've been putting in daily effort with exercise & art for over a year since the pandemic started (I've been working on many other things as well)

With that being said, the progression has been pretty slow and I find that a little demoralizing because of my age. I'm almost ready to start performing music live again now that things are starting to open up where I'm from but I still lack the ability to put on a compelling show solo (I have hard time singing & playing an instrument simultaneously) so lucky I'm working with another person and I can focus on just one or the other when it comes to live playing.

My fitness and health has improved, I lost a lot weight and toned up since the pandemic started. I've been getting some compliments from guys and girls I know but still haven't achieved my body goals and as well (embarrassingly enough to admit) I still struggle with getting dates even with my improved shape and current physique.

I could name other examples of areas of improvement but I'll stick with those - my point is that I'm putting in all this time & effort into these things & besides the little fulfillment I get from maintaining & accomplishing these tasks I'm still not truly succeeding or getting what I want.

So it's got me questioning my time & effort because my patience is being tested, I know I don't have forever but I can't improve fast enough, I still feel powerless as if what I'm chasing after is forever outreach and slipping away.

I don't know what else to do other than try harder but I keep coming up short.
