Should Old Acquaintance be forgot? (re-posting from "Ask")

As we come close to the end of 2015, the time to sing "Auld Lang Syne" comes around again.

We examine the lyrics:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,

Now are the "old" or "auld" acquaintance old friends who wronged us, or old relationships which wronged us? Or people in the past who were never really there because you know that somehow on that night you will get a drunk call or text from that person wishing you tidings of the holiday?

Old "acquaintance" are never really forgotten if we hold memories of them, whether it be a girlfriend/boyfriend or any other relationship because we hold certain memories. And those memories are learning experiences which we carry through the years as we get "older" and older doesn't always mean "wiser" but you do learn from certain things and that does make you wiser.

Many call that "baggage" but people fail to realize that some "baggage" is experience from past experiences. or bringing "bricks" to build a new relationship. You are suppose to have a clean slate, but I am sure everyone has doubt and those "bad bricks" usually become "good bricks"

Acquaintance is the start of a friendship, and if old aquaintance should be forgot, and never brought to mind, maybe they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

To Everyone: I wish you a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016.

New Year. New You. It is blank book. a blank page. a clean slate. A new beginning to make new memories. draw on it, scribble on. Most importantly.. LEAVE YOUR MARK! DO SOMETHING!.
