Men and Women Are the Same Species!

There's a lot of division between genders on this site, and I mean with a name like Girls ask Guys, what did you expect? Now obviously men and women have some huge biological differences, but I don't really feel it's necessary to include them, as that's not the point.

I think that while we should respect and cherish the differences between men and women, we should also celebrate our similarities, and that's what this take is about.

Men and Women Are the Same Species!

We're both stereotyped.

I could write a list of all the common stereotypes of men and women, but I'm pretty sure we're all too familiar with them. They box us all in, and while some of us may find a way to work them to their advantage, it traps a lot of people too.

We all need to be loved, appreciated and accepted.

We're all human and we desire to be loved, accepted and appreciated by people close to us and the people in our lives. None of this is specific to one gender, everyone is entitled to this.

We all need to love ourselves.

Now this is a touchy topic, and I myself am still very much working on the self love, however everyone is entitled to (and should have, in my opinion) self love. Don't bother conforming to societies standards, you'll forever be reaching for the unattainable anyway, as you simply can't please everyone. We live in a very critical and questioning world, and while these things might not be inherently bad, if we turn this onto ourselves constantly, the more our spirit is going to crack. We all need to love ourselves for who we are, as we are.

Men and Women Are the Same Species!

We all have our own unique beliefs and morals.

We come from different cities, countries cultures and backgrounds, so obviously our views on the world are going to vary quite a bit from person to person. We're all entitled to develop our own personal beliefs and opinions, and it's important to be respectful of other people's too, even if we don't agree with them. I think this is something that is 'overlooked' on GaG sometimes.

We all have tear ducts.

It's not shameful to express feelings of happiness or sadness through tears. None of us should feel embarrassed on whether we cry or not either.

We all have feelings.

Many people class women as the 'emotional ones' and men as 'unfeeling and emotionless', however this is simply not true. We all have emotions and feelings regardless of gender, and the sooner this is accepted, the better. Then hopefully people won't have to worry about having too many feelings, or not enough.

No-one is perfect.

I mean, yes no one is perfect, but there's a lot of pressure to be the 'perfect girlfriend/boyfriend', or the 'perfect husband/wife', or the 'perfect brother/sister' etc. Get where this is going?? It's important to not put too much pressure on people, and to make sure we're forgiving and understanding.

We claim we are progressing as a society, and in many ways we are, however we are still held back by our ideas of who and what women and men should be like, and still focus on our differences instead of our similarities. But I hope this take has been a positive one and helped you realize, that at the end of the day, we're all human.

Thank you for reading.
