1. There will always be a market for drugs

Whether you like it or not, drugs will always be accessible whether it be from some kind of legal market or a shady drug dealer. When drugs are criminalized, this gives criminals a chance to exploit this market.
2. Criminalizing drugs causes more crime

This without a doubt is the most convincing argument. When you look at some of the most violent drug lords of all time such as leaders of los zetas, pablo escobar, al capone etc... they have gotten their platform by exploiting an illegal market. People will always want drugs. If there is no legal market, these drug lords will provide them. In turn, there will be gangs fighting for drugs and territory, innocent deaths and corruption. Take mexico for example. In some parts of mexico it has gotten to the point where even the government fears the cartels as they have shown to be ruthless by executing babies or entire families all together and making them watch.
One story I read that devastated me was when these cartels gathered a class full of 30 students in middle school and cut all of their heads off. Another story was a women who was running for mayor of a town in mexico and after she won, cartel members raided her house to execute her and her family. Sadly, this happens all the time in Mexico and no one will stop them. Where do they get these resources from? Well, 90% of their profit comes from selling drugs in the U.S. If we created a legal market, monsters like these will not be able to self-sustain their gangs and they will run out of supply.
3. Incarceration does not help the drug user

Let me start by saying that everyone does not use drugs for the same reason. Some people are addicts (in extreme cases) and others are just exploring and curious. Do these people really deserve sentences for deciding to put something in THEIR body? We legalized alcohol which is a deadly substance, why do we pick and choose drugs to criminalize if we know people will get their hands on it anyways? It makes absolutely no sense that you can ideally get 20 years in prison for a substance called DMT which your brain or almost any live substance naturally produces. It makes no sense that someone can go to jail for having shrooms in their possession when this is a naturally occurring fungus that grows on the ground and can be found in my backyard after a rainy day. The war on drugs is crap.

1. It is too extreme. Just because you can use certain plants as drugs doesn't mean all drugs should be legalized. Just legalize some drugs not all of it.
2. Destroy demand and you destroy supply. If people no longer demand drugs from the market, legal or illegal the supply will dissapear. In other words its not drugs that should be legalized but drug culture should be destroyed.
1.'' It is too extreme. Just because you can use certain plants as drugs doesn't mean all drugs should be legalized. Just legalize some drugs not all of it.''
sorry, but I think you got that point backwards. you meant to put 3 right? besides that, what do you mean by ''all that'' people will still get the drug either way, and there will still be criminals capitalizing off of it
''If people no longer demand drugs from the market, ''
thats unrealistic. you can tell someone over and over again that drugs are bad in fact, we teach people not to take drugs and the risks yet they still go out and do it. Thats like saying dont tell people not to drink. people will do what they like and are their own people. You will never force someone to not do something and thats not a ''culture'' thats just having a different view on life
I am afraid you are misinformed. Party drugs are taken in clubs and other such places. It is a social drug for that reason. If you eliminate demand for such drugs people no longer supply it. Drug dealers hand free samples and put peer pressure on people to create a drug culture. This exists in opposition to people whom take drugs in isolation. This is a different market with different drugs. Drugs taken in isolation are taken often for the reason of escapism, to escape reality. If you can adjust peoples thinking to find escape from reality from another source than drugs you again eliminate demand and thus also supply.
If you know the risks of drugs why do you want to legalize it? You know people will only ruin their lives with it.
