The Press Council of India was first constituted on 4th July 1966 as an autonomous, statutory, quasi-judicial body, with Shri Justice J R Mudholkar then a Judge of the Supreme Court, as Chairman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted media on National Press Day, which is commemorated every year on November 16 and appreciated their contribution to make India a democratic country. PM Narendra Modi also assured his government is committed to upholding freedom of press and expression in all forms

India celebrated the National Press Day on November 16 as the the Press Council of India started functioning as a responsible body overlooking the works of the press as a whole body on this day.

From my point of view Few Media / News companies are more concerned about the TRP & viewer engagement rather than just the actual news.

They need to spice it, glamorize it, overwhelm it, create a controversial view point, so as to get the viewers attention.

There will always be some who cannot digest the stellar growth of the still developing economies and will mire the success stories with some sort of ill-willed controversies.

Asian countries related news suffer a poor portrayal. Surprisingly, some XENOPHOBIC media houses show successes but also add a bit of spices. These spices include listing a lot of weaknesses of Asian Countries and then mocking them, thus effectively undermining the achievements.
