The issue is that struggling women don't care. Of course they feel guilt but they're going to try anything they can to prevent having the child. I know if abortion was illegal in my country and I got pregnant, I would try everything in my power, alcohol, drugs, injuring myself to have a miscarriage. You have to understand the situation these people are in from a personal perspective, it's easy to sit on your high horse and judge.
@lilaqua the point here, is that if you are struggling in your life and can't a kid to the mix, you should prevent getting pregnant in the first place. Take OCPs, encourage use of condoms etc. Now they're not 100%, none of them. Well you can use multiple different methods to achieve near 100% success.
say something weird happens. Condom breaks, and also the pill fails at the same time. Up to 48 hours after intercourse you can take the "emergency pill", levonorgestrel. two tiny pills 12 hours apart ends things right there. ALL im saying is that in this day and age, IF you do get pregnant, its on you. there's just too many ways to avoid it. when you do get pregnant you can't say my body my rules, there will be another human with a body inside you. happens sooner than you think, as early as three weeks. EVEN THEN if you can't take care of it you can just give the child to foster care.
of course. But generally people who are against abortions are doing everything in their power to defund services to help people get the pill, condoms and sexual education, as well as support abstinence only education. You're rational, but most people who agree with you aren't. It's also a significant class issue, because the pill is expensive (mine is $80 with a subsidy) not to mention doctors appointments every three months for the prescription which are $50 each. For some people it's just not manageable. There are alternatives but, eg. IUD, Rod, Shot, but still require similarly expensive processes in order to get. Condoms are great but they do have an alarming failure rate when you think about it, for 10 times you have sex, 2 times there's the possibility of becoming pregnant. Also the morning after pill is really bad for you, it's recommended you don't take it more than a couple of times because it's not good for you.
We need abortions as a fall back because, unfortunately shit happens and humans do not follow rationality. Abortions aren't desirable but keeping them legal and regulated is important because making them illegal won't deter people but it will put them at greater risk.
@thedivaa But that's how a lot of women have always felt. It was incredibly common for women to die before abortions from injuries like that, along with cases of mothers killing their young infants. Talk to your mothers, grandmothers.
So you’re pro life just to be clear. As a person that is in no danger of having the government control what happens to their body, I’m not sure why you waste your time arguing against the rights of others.

@lilaqua sure if its like that where you live, I can understand that you dont have any other choice.
I live in australia. It's worse literally everywhere else except maybe Scandinavia.
@lilaqua you need a therapist. If you feel like injuring yourself for the sake of killing your unborn then you're sick.

@lilaqua pregnancy is natural. Childbirth pain os natural. Is nature sexist? If yes then that's okay
@thedivaa yes but I can’t have a child, it would be cruel

I'm pro-abortion, but anti-choice. I like abortions because it kills, but I hate abortion because it gives a woman too much freedom.
Yeah I just plain disagree only because you make it seem that what you say it's the ONLY RIGHT SOLUTION.
It isn't.
I think most people share these feelings. It's the entire conundrum in a nutshell.
I'm a pro choice and pro indifferent. Destroying fetus is normal to me.
Very interesting myTake
Well presented!
Good take.
