RAPE vs MURDER - Tales of Equal Tragedy!

20 reasons why MURDER and RAPE are equally devastating to their victims ...and the 19 LIFE SENTENCES rape victims receive! ... YES, I SAID THE RAPE VICTIM!

Rape versus Murder - It is said that there is no comparison among the two. Is that right? ...well, I'm afraid I will have to respectfully, and STRONGLY, disagree with you ...and here's why.

To say that one outweighs the other is a travesty on several levels.

First, when someone is raped, the following list is what has actually been "murdered" within the rape victim, and condemns most of them to suffer a life sentence of - only remedied upon their final departure from this earth.

With death you are gone, never to return in this life, which is a horrible tragedy. But guess what the horrors of living are for many that have gone through a brutal rape, which lives with them every single day and every minute of it.

After reading my argument ...you tell me - which is better?

THE 19 LIFE SENTENCES GIVEN TO RAPE VICTIMS BY THE SUB-HUMAN MONSTERS WHO RAPE THEM ...

1. Lifelong fear of a re-occurrence

2. Lifelong Insecurity

3. Lifelong lack of self-esteem

4. Lifelong self doubt

5. Lifelong anger

6. Lifelong fear of retribution, even murder, by the perpetrator or the perpetrator's friends or relatives

7. Lifelong nightmares

8. Lifelong day mares - reliving in their mind the violence and horror they endured

9. Lifelong scars psychologically and many times physically

10. Lifelong lack of faith in humanity in general and many times of the specific gender that committed the rape

11. Lifelong questioning of themselves as to whether they may have caused it to happen, or could have, in some way, prevented it from happening

12. Lifelong suffering of friends and family effected by the aftermath to the victim

13, Lifelong inability to cope with simple everyday setbacks, or life issues, as they otherwise would have normally had the ability to do much easier

14. Lifelong lack of motivation

15. Lifelong lack of concern for looks, weight, health and for others around

16. Lifelong feeling of shame

17. Lifelong questioning of God, as to why this tragedy happened to them

18. Lifelong addiction to drugs and/or alcohol in many victims

19. Lifelong suicidal tendencies in many victims

20. SUICIDE is the final solution once and for all, for some to stop, and put an end to the life sentences bestowed upon them!

...THIS IS NOT A COMPARISON TO MURDER in terms of devastation? HELLO!? ARE YOU AWAKE?!

Much of what the rape victim was, and had ever hoped to be, will never ever be recovered. IT IS DEAD! ...can you hear me, or am I talking to myself!

...You still see no comparison to death itself? So many feel truly dead inside after being raped and there are some that would consider this even worse!

YES, certainly, some will recover and cope with it better than others, but it is never totally gone from the psyche.

DEAR GOD! - Please let people see the plight of rape victims and those caught up in abuse of any, and every, kind. It is, and can be, a life long death sentence in so many ways for many of those effected permanently by it!

While the list of psychological trauma and anxieties seems long, it is by far not comprehensive.

Those affected by and victims of rape also undergo a systematic rape of the physical and mental integrity by being reminded everyday for example in violent TV series of the trauma they had to face.

Those victims at a young age are in addition robbed of their innocence and their childhood.

Many, if not most abused youngsters are victims by perpetrators within the ranks of their own family, by those that are supposed to and in charge of protecting them from this type of felony and crime.

Not only are they victims of a physical assault, they are also victims of the codex of silence imposed to them.

Is there a glimpse of hope for the victims? I am not so sure that they will ever heal completely.

You can run with an amputated leg thanks to prosthesis, you can still survive with an artificial heart but you will never be able to live and forget totally because you cannot (yet) amputate the brain. Rape is the gangrene of the brain and even if the brain has no nervous termination, the pain it feels can never be fully attenuated with therapy.

I disagree with one thing about your take, though I commend your efforts.

You make it sound like a rape victims soul should end, thia is far from the truth and the above, though almost guaranteed to happen is not permanent unless the victim lets it. There is therapy, there is healing that can be done.

My friend was raped and I helped her pull through. Not much I could do apart from be there for her and let her know the world had not ended. Now, my friend is a bit on the tough side and she loves life right now, she enjoys life no less then a person who’s traumatised by a car crash.

Though I do not want to criticise the take, you should not be making it sound like rape is the end, it doesn’t have to be, and is not with the right support.

The overall tone was suppose to relay the devastation of rape on the victim.

Yes, it is not that severe on some and that is what you have seen but what you haven't seen are the many children that have been raped and who have bouts of suicide tendencies throughout their life and all the other things I mentioned.

You are judging by your one experience, but believe me, she is at the mild end of what results from it.

I completely understand the devastation it can cause but with the right help, there is a life to be lived. Even if the attack is when young.

Yes it’s harder for some, but regardless of how severe it is we can still through mainly psychological therapy make it through. Whether people get the right help is another question.

I think it also depends like some murders are clean cut and neither is every rape case. Don't get me wrong if someone brutally and savagely rapes or kills someone yes, lock them up. Both acts are serious crimes. And I agree rape can destroy people sometimes, and the victims are faced with the challenge of becoming stronger after it.

However, in court, not every case can or should be handled the same. Not all rape isn't consensual for example statutory rape. Even though, I know you're not talking about that kind. Also, some people have mental health problems and giving them the same sentence as someone who knows what they'are doing and just enjoys it is a bit harsh. Mentally unstable people need help and the right environments to get that help. Prison or being put to death isn't always the best thing.

Also, people could be acting out based on the way that they were raised and or brought up. No this is not always the case, but a man at court who grew up in isolation with parents that brought him up in an environment where they themselves killed and raped; shouldn't get his case looked at the same as someone who had a normal life but just started raping people for fun. I don't know, every situation depends. At the end of the day though, I agree both are equally serious and should be treated as such.

There's a lot to overcome if you've been raped, absolutely no doubt. I can't even imagine what it's like or the effects, I've only seen them. But I did have an enlightening talk once with a girl who had been raped and she said an amazing thing. She said (paraphrasing) ..." I didn't invite it, I didn't ask for it, I feel no guilt in that regard. But if I allow myself to do (the things in your list above), then he's got me twice. Once was enough... The best thing I can do is live strong and show him 'fuck you asshole - you didn't ruin ME or my life because you're a piece of shit, but you ruined your own. You'll always be an ex-con, and a rapist. I'll be the girl who put you in jail". I realize how incredibly strong this person had to be, but she said "Do I have any other choice? No." Tragically fascinating, and I hope it never happens to another woman again - ever.

This was incredibly hard to read, but very thought provoking and educational.
I'd say that the only "saving hope" rape victims have that murder victims don't is that they have the possibility to try and turn around their lives, moving on (but not forgetting) the dreadful experience.
But even then, I know it's very difficult, and depends from the individual psyche.

Rape is truly the most awful thing to ever happen to someone but I think it is even more difficult for male rape victims. A lot of people still believe men can’t be rape victims and there is still a huge shame attached to being a man and getting raped. A lot of female rapists never end up in prison and get away with their crimes.

You guys are mentally sick to say murder is same as rape. people murder kids as young as 3 years old. What's the value of life? How about the mother's love of child she lost who she carried 9 months. Then that loss can not be put to rehab. No man or women can fix loss. I have seen people fixed in a sense from being raped and tortured. Proper rehab channels can do miracles. But comparing loss of life to someone who been rapee is utterly disgusting. I guess you never lost a child to be so self centered.

Rape is a seripus issue and I do not agree with it. With that said I feel as if you believe that once a person has been raped the rest of their life is ruined and will never be good. Are you saying it is impossible for the rest of someone's life to be good after they are raped on their 10th birthday and they live to be 100? That would be 90 horrible years.

I agree that the two crimes should be treated similarly. The sentences for rape should be very similar to those for murder.
