Why hate speech is against democracy

According to hate speech proponents, hate speech should be illegal because it comes from hate, rather than love.

More like no freedom for anyone!

Is your love for your ideology really stronger than your love of democracy?

The single most defining feature of democracy is that it allows the people to debate with one another, and gauge with elections what are the most important topics that should get representation in the government.

In a democracy, multiple worldviews and conceptions of human nature can enter in debate with one another and expose each other's biases and prejudices.

This is the democracy as mechanism in action. If more worldviews in the same society expose more biases and prejudices in one another, we get more equal representation of citizens!

The soviet union also had 51% percent majority vote, yet it was not democratic. 51% majority vote is only the gauging mechanism, not the democracy itself!

More than 51% of the power in a society must be spread over more than 51% of the people!

Hate speech tolerates only one worldview and one conception of human nature (currently multiculturalism and egalitarianism) to be debated in society. This means nobody is legally allowed to expose the prejudice of the dominant ideology. Less and less people over time will feel represented until the regime implodes itself.

This leads the society further and further away from the democracy and genuine equality.

I'm not advocating for politically motivated violence, calling for violence or other forms of extreme speeches that could end up in the wounding or death of other people. The democratic debate must remain strictly nonviolent. Those who commit ( call for) violence are placed out of the democratic debate, not normal speech.

I get where you're coming from, I really do. No one likes to be insulted. You're heading down a very slippery slope, don't you start roping off words and saying that you can no longer say those words, you're just going to keep moving that line further and further, because everything offends somebody. Once you start moving that line and saying; okay now this isn't safe to say, okay now this isn't safe to say, okay now this isn't safe to say, where does it end? Don't get me wrong I'm all against hate speech, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve the right to say it. There's a saying that was really popular when I was a kid that seems to have all but disappeared now, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." People seem to have forgotten that words can be ignored. A stupid person saying stupid things doesn't deserve this kind of attention.

Lol Democracy is so flawed. If you think you live in one they you are so wrong. Hate speech is like saying how come Muslim grooming gangs in the UK got away with raping little girls for so long because people, government, police were too afraid in confronting the muslim community and saying it for what it was. I agree with you when it comes to hate speech, and I'm glad you added that last part. I'm very much an advocate for free speech in general, but even I have my limits.
Saying that black people are inferior or you think women shouldn't have the right to vote is completely different from saying something along the lines of "We should go out now and kill all the n*ggers!"
The first two options are opinions, no matter how disgusting those opinions might be, the second one is a call for action.

My opinion on free speach is you can say anything you want aslong as you're not making threats without intervention from the law. So if i wanna be a racist nazi bigot unless i threaten to hurt someone the law can't punish me. HOWEVER i am not exempt from soical consequences. You can't make something illegal just because YOU don't like it. It's important to listen to the other side. If minorities and Liberals were more open to listen to the reasons why people are racist against them, maybe they would actually work to better themselves and racism would end. But you can't eliminate hate, without first addressing the cause of it.
