My recent reply to a GAGster totally missing the point about the recent (#BLM) protests, and asserting that WHITE PRIVILEGE is just a "myth":

Some fools on here are totally missing the point, and putting forth stupid play-on-words like "WhiteLivesMatter", "BlueLivesMatter", etc. -- which is infuriating and misses the whole point, because DUH of course all lives matter, and they're not appreciating what makes this different for people of color, and the unique challenges historically and systemically they've faced.

So this guy accused me of being 'woke' and proceeded to tell me that white privilege is a myth. I could couldn't disagree more, and provided four example off the top pf my head of how it certainly is a thing, and how I experience it frequently.

I've cut-n-pasted below the line my reply:

If you have some additional examples of your own, please feel free to include them!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're dead wrong. Plain and simple. I'm not "woke" nor am I claiming to be. If you don't think white privilege is a thing, you haven't traveled very much outside of you 'white' bubble. When I don't followed around at stores, yet my black friends do, on the same shopping trip -- that's white privilege! When I go to a car dealer to test drive a car, they get right to it, but black friends could go down there, and they ask "are you sure you can afford this?" - or - "How do you plan on financing this?" -- That's white privilege! -- When the neighborhood I drive in starts to become bad, (let's take San Bernardino for example) - I could drive through with expired tags, a broken tail-light, practically doing drugs at every stop light, and I'd never get pulled over! I become invisible to law enforcement; why? because they're not looking for middle aged unassuming white women! -- that's white privilege! When I park in a bad neighborhood, I get swarmed by people offering to sell me drugs, or asking "whatcha need? ...whatcha looking for?" ....because why? - They assume I'm in their hood to buy drugs, because why else would a white chick like me be down there? -- That's white privilege! Those are real everyday experiences. I'm not making this shit up, pretending I'm woke.
Just as much as I'm aware that I get preferential treatment for just being white, Black people are all too aware of being treated not so preferentially for far too long.
You stating white privilege is a myth proves you can't see the forest for the trees. You're stuck in a mindset of us against them, and for whatever reason can't shake that erroneous world view. White people have not had to ever deal with even a sliver of the type of discrimination compared to blacks as a whole, over time. To suggest otherwise is absurd and ignorant. Wake up.
