With a large number of watered down reality TV shows and seemingly endless seasons of specific series that claim to be searching for the next famous singer, finding something to watch other than sports is becoming more and more difficult by the day. I mean, realistically, TV shows and their characters are nothing like they used to be. On top of that, in order to actually find a somewhat entertaining series, you need to subscribe to the likes of HBO, Showtime or Cinemax. The good news for men is that gender specific sitcoms are starting to make a comeback, making television much easier to watch. With new male based series, like "Dads" and "Men at Work", continuing to premiere regularly, men are now finding shows that they can relate to once again.
Homeland
One of the best shows for men currently on TV is Homeland. Found on Showtime, Homeland is a very realistic series that directly relates to the world's current fight against terrorism. With an entertaining set of both CIA and terrorist cell characters, this show leaves you on the edge of your seat from week to week. Adding to its appeal for men, Homeland can also be watched with your significant other because of the engaging love story that flows perfectly with the shows storyline.
Law & Order
For well over 10 years, Law & Order has been one of TV's most favorite shows among men. Possessing a well developed plot, this series creates the majority of its episodes from real life news stories that are plucked right out of recent news headlines. With a very witty cast of characters, Law & Order is responsible for the illustrious careers of actors Christopher North and Benjamin Bratt, As one of the most watched police series ever, the original Law & Order has given birth to other spin-offs like Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Family Guy
Quite possibly the funniest adult cartoon show that has ever been aired, Family Guy definitely holds nothing back. Taking a poke at virtually every controversial topic in American culture, this series incorporates some of the funniest satire that you will ever see. In fact, some of it is so over the top that many different people have been easily and understandably offended by the humor of the shows writers. Showcasing Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, three kids (Chris, Meg and Stewie) and their talking dog Brian, Family Guy can afford be a lot more risqué because of its cartoon setting.
Ray Donovan
Probably one of the best new shows on television, like Homeland, Ray Donovan can also be found on Showtime. With only one full season under its belt, the show stars Liev Schreiber as Ray Donovan and Jon Voight as Ray's father. Being set in Los Angeles, California, the main character (Donovan) is regarded as a "fixer" for the law firm Goldman & Drexler that serves extremely famous celebrities. Trying to juggle his own life problems, Ray's life has instantly become more chaotic when his father is released from jail and then followed by the FBI.
Late Night with Conan O'Brien
Coming a long way from his days as a writer for Saturday Night Live, Conan O'Brien has become one of the most entertaining talk show hosts on TV. Incredibly, when Conan first came on the air, he actually struggled to find his identity and wasn't thought to be very funny. Since then, with now famous like "In the year 2000", "Starring contest", "The interrupter" and "If they mated", Conan has become a hit with millions of men across the world.
