Most people watch sports to escape from all that.
I quite watching football immediately when they started all that nonsense.
That is like trying to keep commercials out of Televised Sports Games. There is too much money to be made to do so.
People dont like politics in sports because someone of status may articulate a belief different from theirs and it's harder to use the you must be a loser because you share a different POV from me argument.
Any form of entertainment should have 0 politics.

Everybody has freedom of speech but yes BLM and both sides has ruined sports.
So if BLM ruined sports then we have to take away the anthem. The anthem is racist anyway. It’s anti freedom of speech and doesn’t benefit people of color
I think so. It's just for entertainment. Same with Hollywood these days. It's meant to be entertaining and dare I say - gives you escapism from today's issues - but you're just being lectured and preached to with all the 'woke' talking points.

@HippieVeganJewslim Yes, and there shouldn't be. "Global warming" has nothing to do with real science, and everything to do with politics. Why do you think they're always going on about "the consensus", and that "97% of scientists agree"? Science isn't about establishing some kind of consensus, it's about keeping an open mind, exploring the possibilities, experimentation, falsification, and remaining objective at all times. If it's a "consensus" you're after, well that's politics.
Sports can be a powerful social platform. Generally speaking, I would prefer that politics stay out of sporting though.
In my opinion, yes. Politics should be left out a lot of things. But people still have their right to express themselves and I support their right to. That doesn't mean I think it's a good idea.

there's making a political statement typically done on ones own then there is an agenda were its being pushed down our throats by all the powerful corporations / organizations. i support the former even if its not the position I have
we live in a free country and i guess they have a right to an opinion, to a degree, i think that this is why many celebs have social media they can talk and state an opinion too but we do not always need it to be put out on the court.

The reason we have entertainment is to get away from the stresses of our daily life. The more of it you shove into entertainment, the more you ruin it's purpose and will get less popular.
I grew up with sports as an escape from the real world. It was entertainment and team pride. A few moments to enjoy a sport and escape the grind of work and politics. That is gone and a loss.
