Tossing a "Happy Valentine's Day" to someone who's single? Valentine's Day has kind of evolved, hasn't it? It's not just for the lovey-dovey couples anymore. It's about celebrating all kinds of love—be it the love for your friends, your fam, or just pampering yourself because hey, self-love is a big deal too.
Think of it like saying "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays." You're not diving deep into what they celebrate or their personal life; you're just sharing some of that festive spirit. So, when you wish someone a "Happy Valentine's Day," it's like you're just handing them a little piece of that universal love vibe.
But yeah, context is key. If someone's recently single and not really feeling the whole Valentine's vibe, or if they've mentioned they're just not into it, maybe just let it be. No need to add any extra. But generally speaking? A cheerful "Happy Valentine's Day" is a sweet, no-pressure way to make someone's day a tad brighter.

I think that it can be fine because Valentine's is about relationships and love- as in friends and family. However I can see some people getting a little upset about it, especially if everyone around them is going on a date. So overall I think it depends on the situation and the person you are talking to/texting.
lol I wouldn't mind either one. The fact that someone would tell me it is good enough. I'd be thankful/flattered that they even thought to acknowledge me. :p
Depends on the person, those types that say they absolutely love being single and don't want a relationship would probably take it well whereas someone like me who I'm content being single would probably think you were taking the piss.
I don't see why not the day is about celebrating love, not couples and love can come from anywhere pets, your girlfriend/boyfriend, wife/husband , friends and family. So your never really alone and you have people that care about you.

I hate when someone says it to me. I'm not offended, but it just reminds me that I, for the 28th year in row, have no one.
I don't think so... I sent everyone i know a happy Valentine's day, and all of them are single... So basically i just wish them a happy day... All I can say..
Well I'm not single now so I don't know, but if I'm single I really don't need anyone to remind me that fact, especially on Valentine's day, because all I do is sitting at home and someone be like "Happy Valentines" well staring at the wall seems like fun.
I'm in love with myself so yeah! Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! :)
basically what is weird is to celebrate V-Day in general wether you're single or not

Yes I would love that from a stranger that being a girl
If someone said that to me I'd assume they were mocking me especially if they're in a relationship. I'd probably smile while hoping they fall underneath a passing lorry, but then I've never been a person to be terribly nice.
I would probably avoid it. It reminds them of their single and "alone" status.
Yeah, I appreciate it. I got some lovely messages today from people who care about me. Valentine's Day is also about friendship where I'm from.
keep your fucking holiday away from me, I hate that day, nothing but a show off of something I can't have and it's just to rub it in my face, FUCK OFF
Where I live Valentines is also mention to Friends.
Tell it to who ever you want it doesn't matter its just words. If they get mad its a their problem not yours. As a professional single person whose never had one, I wouldn't be mad at ya.
I would avoid it. It's like saying merry Christmas to muslims or jews.
Yes, since the holiday is supposed to remind single people, they're still single
not sure but i think its kind of rude
Avoid mentioning Valentine's day around us
I don't care much, it's nice of you to say it.
