i dont know the origin of it but i have my own take on it

imagine if you were really in the mood and you wanted to have sex with your boyfriend and he pushes you off and say 'go fuck yourself' and walks away. it means they want nothing to do with you. because masterbating on your own is fun when it was your choice. but when having to result to fucking yourself after being denied it from a loved one it really hurts.

Because fucking yourself is considered shameful and is frowned upon (especially for girls) and can sometimes be called nasty. Maybe that's why i don't know. Maybe it's an insult because it like saying "fuck yourself because ain't no body else going to do it." i really don't know though.
