Girl is shutting herself off?

I am 'talking' to this girl, who is amazing. She is fantastic, sweet, and pretty. I really like her a lot. All the signs that she should like me are there. The problem is that she says she does not like me back. Her explanation for this was that her last boyfriend hurt her really bad and that she is afraid to try again for fear that she will get hurt again. Which, for the record, I would never do. She also said that she is setting up all these 'walls' to prevent herself from getting hurt. So, my question is what can I do to break these 'walls'? Thanks, a lot! (:

Stay around. Don't ever let her think for a second that you don't like her. Even if she says she doesn't like you back. Getting hurt by a guy is one of the hardest things to move on from, especially when it was someone you thought was there for you.

Be consistent about the time you spend with her. The longer you stick around and show her you care for her, the more she will see that you're willing to be there. My ex was great to me...until he got tired of me. He was basically keeping me around and the way we broke up wasn't exactly the greatest closure. So for a while I became scared that every guy I dated and every guy that showed interested in me was looking for fun.

Now I am dating a guy who has stuck around, showed me patience and understands why I am so hurt and scared. I am still worried sometimes, but the more I am with him, the more trusting I am of him.

When a girl is hurt from a former boyfriend she thinks that every guy might hurt her again. I know that because I was cheated on and hurt. It takes time and patience. You have to show her you their for her and treat her like she never been treated. Be nice to her and show her your not going to hurt her like her last boyfriend did,

That is what I have been trying to do. She said that I am doing a good job and that if I just keep it up, she will turn around eventually. But, I want to do that something big, something that most guys wouldn't do, either because they don't want to, they are too lazy to, or they don't like her enough. Any thoughts?
