How to approach a random guy at the mall?

I posted a question a little bit ago about why I never get approached and that my beauty probably intimidates potential guys because they fear rejection.

Which is understandable.

So I want to try approaching guys.

I know to make eye contact, smile and initiate a conversation.

But what I don't know is how to tell if I'm being blown off or if he's not interested? Will guys automatically give me a chance because I'm pretty and smart?

If the starter conversation and small talk is going well, should I wait for him to ask for my information (phone number, email or Facebook) or should I ask for his? How long should we chat for? I usually go to malls to shop, but now I have an agenda.

What would you think (guys) if a pretty girl walked up to you in a mall? This is assuming you're both alone. I would never approach anyone with a group of friends around.

Okkaaaay. You talked me into it so I'll give you a chance...

But to answer your question: If you're hot you'll get more than a chance with most guys. Honestly you could probably take your pick. Your chances of rejection are low. The worst that could happen, I think, is the guy will already be taken but he'll be flattered. Even if you do get rejected you'll make a lot of guys feel really good inside. Any guy that would be rude to a beautiful woman who walks up to HIM is a guy you don't want in the first place.

You can ask for his or give him yours. It's up to you. Use your judgement. If you're starting to run out of things to say get his info or give yours and end the conversation.

If a guy gets approached at the mall he'll be ecstatic though he might not show it. If you truly are hot enough to intimidate guys you have no reason to be anything but confident.

Most guys 95% will give you a chance if they are single just by virtue of you being pretty and smart. You may get blown off a few times but don't let it get you in a bad mood, just move on to someone else, there are plenty of single guys that would love to get a date.

I think it is fine for you to be the one to ask to exchange contact info if the starter conversation is going well.

As for how long to chat, 3 to 7 minutes is usually good, guys tend to be put off if a girl talks too long, they'd see it as a "sign of things to come", lol.

I'd have no problem with it, I like girls with self confidence.

I like this answer and completely agree with it with the exception of 1 thing.

Instaid of you asking for their number, I'd give them yours instaid mainly because there's girls out there who just want to get numbers and besides that just nothing more which they may or may not have noticed themselves.

Its also a good sign if he's calling first, right?

Chat for whatever length of time is comfortable, and go ahead and get his Facebook, or email. That way if you have second thoughts etc, you can just not add him. Also for conversation starters show interest in what he is looking for so if he's in a game shop then pull out your ultimate game knowledge ;) ya know how you pown noobs, and love fragging unsuspecting nubs in your favorite game. Maybe ask what they like to do. Then go from there.. Just be yourself, and give him attention. If he's worth hanging with, he will pick up on this and take it further. If it were me, I'd probably hesitantly engage in any conversation you started. I'm a shy person and you approaching me would catch me off guard. Even if I enjoyed the conversation and found myself attracted to you, I might not think/work up the courage to ask for your information. If you feel weird directly asking, perhaps suggest exchanging information. How long you chat for is something you'll have to determine in the moment.
