Hips and thighs and boobs and booty. JK, but not entirely. A girl with a column body shape and Below average BMI is said to look like a 12-year old boy, also known as not feminine. Being curvy, growing your hair out, doing your nails, having smooth skin, and wearing dresses and nice clothing that accentuates your curves (looking curvier Or playing up your curves) are all considered to be feminine traits. Taking small steps that make your hips shake when you walk as opposed to brisk, stocky steps being masculine because men don't shake their hips when they walk.
Being kind and caring, submissive and passive are traditional femine traits as well as cooking, cleaning, rearing children, and dressing wounds.
Feminine actions are generally ones associated with raising and taking care of children while a feminine look is one that bears traits of good fertility.
To me, being feminine means that I'm attractive to men and take care of myself and other people around me.
Being feminine doesn't mean that I'm scared to play in the mud at bugs or that I can't stand up for myself when I need to. Being feminine doesn't mean that I shelter myself under someone else and need a man to provide for me because I can't help myself. I can and do help myself just fine, thank you very much. Being feminine doesn't mean being bitchy and breaking nails, liking the color pink, or crying all the time.
Feminity is a presence. It's the way you carry and present yourself. It's the inner beauty that shines on the outside when you don't have any makeup on. It's an outward appearance that tells men you would make a good mother and also give him pretty children with good genes. It's the way you act with grace and poise when someone says something lewd or acts aggressively, but also being able to laugh at yourself when you do take a drunken tumble in your 5-inch heels.
Most girls are raised these days to view femininity as week. I think our culture as a whole needs to reevaluate itself and stop listening to all those masculine feminists who are probably just jealous because no guys want to date them anymore.
To me, I feel feminine when I've put time into my outward appearance, whether that be as simple as mascara and concealer or a full face. And what really boosts my confidence is my femininity is when my hair is done, it's usually in an updo, so, when it's down and bouncy, I feel more feminine. And if I'm wearing a dress or a skirt, I feel really girly :)
When I'm super soft out of the shower and in the nude, I feel feminine bc I'm always wearing clothes (obviously XD) and then I see the curve of my hips and my breasts and back and it's like "Hey, I'm a lady" So, for me, I feel most most feminine when my hair is down and I'm naked because that's me most raw as a woman.
It means several things to me:
Motherly, in other words, nurturing
Tender
Sensitive
Submissive
Having lady like manners or etiquette
Soft attitude
Graceful
Sweet and bubbly
Affectionate
Wouldn't be caught doing or even saying something gross
Hardly ever cursing
Home oriented
Giving importance and takes care of appearance. Speaking of appearance, I think style is one of the most obvious traits of femininity. It's a first impression, which is important. Having a girly sense of fashion can also mean that you're feminine.
i agree with you. Well said :) <3
The opposite of masculine. But each of us has our own definition.
The woman described in Sting's "Fields Of Gold" has, for me, an idealized femininity about her. What do we know about her? She's assertive about what she wants from her man and she's appreciative when she gets it. She recognizes and responds to her lover's romantic cues. She's a mother. She has long hair. (That's not necessary, butβdamn itβit sure helps.) She has given herself to love and to a bond so strong that even the heavens are jealous.
I think a feminine woman is free to be herself. She's free from society's expectations. She's free from her own insecurities (and she may well have a few). She's never trapped by her man, both because she would never allow it and he instinctively knows it isn't necessary In the first place.
She gives love and time freely, and wants and graciously accepts these things from others just as well. She's involved in her community and is motivated by her desire to make it a better place for her family. Her parents, her children, her siblings, and her extended family and friends hold her in high regard and are a tiny bit jealous of her man because he gets to spend more time with her than they do.
Despite her being free and treasuring her freedom, she loves to be taken, to be swept away. She knows this only strengthens her relationship with her man and contributes to making them both a better version of themselves.
She can do and be all this and still wear pants if she wants to. (And I mean that literally and figuratively.)
As for what femininity looks like, your picture has covered pretty well!
Basically Girls who don't look or act like men.
Not physically aggressive, gross (farting, burping, spitting), loud.
No tattoos or weird piercings.
Has dignity and respect for herself.
Those things aren't feminine
@Touchmehxx those things are the defention of femininety you're not the one who decides whats feminine and whats not.
@IceCubedude so the definition is girls who don't act or look like men
@Touchmehxx yes...
thats really what is femininty , if you act like me why would i want to date you? doesn't make much sense, just like girls who refuse to date men for being too girly, it works both ways.
@Touchmehxx "Those things aren't feminine" TO YOU!
The question was... "What does feminine mean to you?"
And I responded with MY DEFINITION.
I believe the "sugar and spice and all things nice" idea. You don't have to like it, but it's MY definition for ME.

Female and feminine are two different things to me. Feminine is being soft, gentle, vulnerable, innocent, and embracing beauty. A clear example of this is

Being female does not mean being feminine, to me it means to belong to your gender, and whatever you act, believe, or appear like only lends more diversity to that gender.
feminine is defined as "having qualities or appearance traditionally associated with women, especially delicacy and prettiness."
But it is also defined as " the female sex or gender." which I think is wrong. because it puts the female gender into a box. Masculine, can be used for both male and female. it is not just to define the male gender, in fact feminine can be used to describe the male gender as well.
That is my take anyways...
Feminine energy: Pulling in, caring, relaxation, deconstruction, receiving, withdrawal
Feminine people: People who are good at listening, who work like a soft and soothing harbor for you to rest in. Features are soft, colours warm or not so intense. Sounds that are slow and moves like velvet. Everything that isn't "strong" in the traditional sense.
But herein lies the strength of femininity. It's the other side, it's the underrated 50% of the energy we need. Ruthless progress is met with withdrawn regression.
I find that most guys use the term "feminine" to describe what they *personally* find attractive - which I'm sure causes mixed signals whenever a poor girl hears different men define "femininity".
Both I, and the Merriam Webster Dictionary define it as "characteristic of or appropriate or unique to women". So essentially any physical or personality trait that is typical of females, but not necessarily what is objectively or subjectively considered attractive.
In short, "femininity" has little to do with attractiveness, but rather refers to what is usually expected of women's appearance and behavior.
I don't believe in gender roles, so needless to say, I hate the term "feminine" (as well as "masculine").
For me, my femininity only comes out when I really like a guy. I'm one of the boys most of the time, grew up the middle child with two brothers so I can be around guys all the time and be comfortable. But I do like to be feminine when the guy I like is around. I'll stop being a tom boy and dress nicer, stop chewing my nails, wear skirts and wanna look like a hot ass girl.
being softhearted, sweet, having more feminine appearance? wearing dresses/ etc , so basically not like a tomboy/ boycut etc, caring towards family, friends, neighbor and so on.
Feminity and masculinity are social constructs, with that said I guess I have a stereotypically way of looking at it. I am queer, so I am a big fan of gender nonconformity. I love looking at fashion, I like more feminine styles. Typically how I determine how feminine a piece is, is by think how much a proud masculine straight male would hate wearing it.
😊😂😂
Whatever femininity is, thank god for it!!
Feminine means more of a girly girl. Someone who is into makeup, pastel colors, dresses/skirts, wears clothing that flatter their body and looks very put together. Not like they just throw on something and left the house.
Long hair, full lips, soft skin, soft voice, big beautiful eyes, curves, smells amazing, nurturing, sweet, kind, classy, ladylike. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now and to me the most feminine traits.
Something beautiful, but yet delicate, delicate, but yet powerful, powerful, but yet underestimated, understimated, but yet the center and strenght of many families.
Girlie.. its more about personality, how she talks, how she sits, eats, drinks etc. I never found fighting girls attractive or chicks who do strenght workouts at gyms. For me, feminine shouldn't do manly activities, they should be busy with peaceful and awful things hah.. 😎
my question is what is femininity minus what society has decided is feminine. for example pink used to be a boys color like 50 years ago. So what has society tsught us vs what would nature say?
strong
wise
insightful
graceful
dignified
calm
rational
compassionate
no bullshit
Feminine in my opinion, is to be womanly. as opposed to Masculine, is to be manly.
What is womanly and what is manly? it is the display of attributes that NATURALLY identified to its respective gender.
Just my opinion.
be girly:
wear a dress/skirt
wear make up
love flowers
love everything cute
wear pink
ARE you there

Innocence, being caring and loving, sensitivity
Looks: elegance
more or less :)
Being quiet and submissive. Doing as you're told and only speaking when spoken to. Being girly. Not doing manly things like farting, burping, cursing, smoking or drinking beer. Being hairless besides your head and eyebrows.
A woman can be dominant and still be feminine, however she would be a powerful woman but i think that's a good thing for me anyways.
Girlie, wanting to be pretty and happy that she is feminine. Leaving little notes for her guy or doing the little things that us guys hardly notice.
Difficult one. I feel feminine although some say I don't look and behave. But will think about it and phrase.
The way you walk
Talk
style
scent
colors ( kind of )
gestures
poses

Feminism = complaining about stuff when you have nothing better to do.
Feminism is the opposite of femininity. Feminism seeks to destroy all that is pure and feminine. I think Feminism is a poor name for the group of people who tout it around like a dogmatic badge of honor.
I agree with your above comment, but we're talking about what "feminine" means here, not how much we all hate "feminists."
@Idonthaveausername it's a complicated subject because in English etymology feminism would be the definition of feminine, but it's the opposite. So, I have no idea what the definition is.
The word for context we're using in this thread is "femininity. " You can remember it by comparing it to "masculinity. " They have the same ending. "Feminism" is the political movement and you can remember that because there is no such thing as "musculanism".
A girl who is "feminine" has "femininity. "
A girl who is a "feminist" has "masculinity ". (As in feminists want genders to be equal, so they have to become more masculine in order to even it up.)
wanna feel like a woman? go wash the dishes and then bring me a beer... lol...
lmao
mirrors and compliments masculinity and is beautiful delicate tender classy and wonderful
Nothing really. other words that pop in my head are "nurturing, fragile, beautiful, passive"
But I don't really like that word feminine.
Elegant, but not necessarily in the standard girly way.
having qualities or appearance traditionally associated with women, girlie
Physically attractive but not overdone.
On the slender side, no bigger than C.
Modest
Articulate speaking.
Poised and patient.
Long hair
Cooperative but subordinate sexually.
Trimmed and edged for the beach down below. Not shaved or waxed.
Masculine happiness is about penetration (of the oppsite gender or abstract/unknown things as science, art, grounds, ...)
Feminine happiness is about fullness/plenitude.
tender, supportive, motherly, classy, sensuous, delicate
where you wear a lot of make up and you care about how you look
Means something that brings meaning to masculinity.
We are equal, still we need it. We just need it.
To me, feminine is a physical trait.
It means having large hips, a large butt, and breasts. Oh, and large lips.
A girl or a woman, that is like her wonderful self β₯ β β₯
beautiful
caring
nurturing
female sexy
soft skinned
What does feminine mean to you? Weakness or the act of being weak.
dresses nicely, is nice/friendly, soft spoken, sensative.
All of these answers though 😂😂😂😂
You're delusional
Hi @Touchmehxx. This sort of question comes up a lot and you often comment on various opinions to tell people that you don't agree with them. And here you've had an opportunity to set the record straight but you didn't. I'm honestly curious about your own ideas about femininity because I don't think, in any of the confrontational exchanges I've seen you involved with, that your own opinion has ever really come out. I'm not trying to jump in your shit; I'm honestly curious. Can you put it into words?
