I was watching this video clip of the assassination of William McKinley and they showed the pictures of Teddy walking with the some other men. In the picture, another man had his arm around his right arm and the people around him acted like it was no big deal. However, I wonder if a photo that was taken like that in the modern times would be a bigger deal with someone famous in modern times. What do you think? Also do you think that these photos alone from long time ago in these poses would be seen as more than just friends between 2 guys?
Was public affection between two men more accepting back then, than it is now?
I think part of the reason pictures like this wasn't really a big deal in the time period in which they were taken because people were not openly gay, so it was seen in a more innocent light. Also, who is to say that some of these aren't family members? Also, kinda a weird side note, but might be relavent, people used to take pictures with their dead relatives and often times would have to prop them up and what not.
