There is none at the moment, because Israel is "winning" and has the majority of what it wants, and the Palestinians have too much impotent rage and nowhere near enough bargaining power, so neither side has anything to gain by negotiating for peace in good faith.
The first step towards a solution? Convincing Israel that in order to have peace they will HAVE to give up some things. (And good luck convincing them of that. The world can't even convince them to obey international law.)
The second step? Dismantling the rage on the Palestinian side and convincing them that it *doesn't* *matter* what atrocities they suffered under, there will NEVER be revenge or justice for it, or reparations. They just need to forgive and move past it. (Again, good luck convincing the families of the murdered about that.)
The third step, finding a group that is trusted by both parties to make fair decisions with the precondition from both sides that the arbitrators word is FINAL. Again, good luck with that, because Israel will only trust America and the Palestinians will practically trust anyone except America.
The fourth step, break the region down into tiny segments like squares on a board. Each side picks a segment, one at a time. Two rules. Their first segment can be anywhere. Then every choice after the first must be adjacent to an existing acquired segment. This forces both sides to slowly acquire and plan the areas that they *most* want, in the order they most want. It can mathematically be shown to be the fairest dividing strategy, and is basically a more complicated form of "You cut it into two, but I pick which bit I want".31 Reply

+1 yStay out of it and let them fight it out. I would not lift a finger to help either side.
If I MUST do something, I'd look at it this way. Israel was formed with the backing of a bunch of countries. They were formed in a place where they were surrounded by enemies. To my knowledge, none of the surrounding countries backed the formation of Israel. So it was trouble from the start.
But whether it was a good idea or not, I think the countries that backed the formation of Israel have an obligation to defend them... as long as they stay within the original borders. My solution would be to get a coalition of the original supporters, and tell both sides that the original border is the final border, and if either side violates that border they will have their ass kicked very badly.
But I'd much rather just stay the hell out of it and let them fight it out.20 Reply
4.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Hmm, I can't pretend like I've taken history courses on the conflict. But I do get the gist. I think stopping settlements on Palestinian land is a must. And eliminating terrorist/violence promoting organizations on both sides is also a must.
Also, I'm not religious, and I don't let deeds/promises from gods written in books thousands of years old apply to every person who is of a certain religion/ethnic group. It makes 0 sense how people actually use that as a real argument. I mean, ok, sure I guess if you're religious it makes sense, but religion and politics should be separate unless the government is trying to ban a religion (in which case, bringing up religion would be ok)11 Reply
first thing is start doing neighborhoods with both Jews and Muslims. Palestinians and Israelis. When they see that there's no need for hate then things will be great. And, second thing, get rid of the borders that separate everyone. And stop with the "This land is ours" thing. We all live on this earth, there's no mine and yours. Those who go against making peace, who assault, who use violence or whatever, will be punished. I don't know how, put I don't mean punished as like killed or tortured, jail maybe, depending on what they did, or obligate them to socialize with those who he/she hates. Until they see that there's no need to hate them. Of course the others must treat him well

Both parties (but especially the Israelis) believe all the land belongs only to them and they believe that religious scriptures legitimize their greed. It's like me saying "your house actually belongs to me and I can prove it. Look, my holy book clearly says that your house has always been mine." You can't have a constructive discussion with such a person.
That's why it's not that easy.

+1 yIsrael and Palestine need a two-state solution on the basis of where the borders were in 1967. The ultra-nationalist crybabies in Israel may not like this plan but it's the only objectively fair and balanced solution there is.
20 ReplyThere could have been a peacefull solution in 1947, but the Arabs rejected it, started a war to wipe out the Israelis, and they've been getting their asses kicked ever since. Every time they start a war on Israel, they lose even more of what they have. The Palestinians should consider themselves lucky the Israelis don't just obliterate them. Israel is actually now entitled to all that territory, due to the Arabs being such shitheads. The Palestinians (and the Arabs in general) could have had a REALLY good deal in 1947, and they flushed it down the toilet.
10 ReplyHow can there be a mutually satisfying solution between two groups that are so Diametrically opposite? Building walls hasn't helped. Laws, and restrictions make things worse.
How can you come to a peaceful solution, living in close proximity, to someone that 'Stole your land' or that 'Just wants to kill you because of your religion'?
By the Gods, if someone could come up with a REAL, functional solution, that both could accept, that one would truly be WORTHY of the Nobel Prize, and perhaps even 'Sainthood' in the Christian Church!!
At this point, it is really a question of which conflict destroys us!! The Israeli/Palestinian thing, the India/Pakistan thing, or the North Korea/South Korea/China thing!!111 Reply- +1 y
It is a different wall you are talking about, the one at Gaza. Israel has got Iron Dome and iron beam which makes Hamas' rockets irrelevant and Israel is building an underground wall to destroy the tunnels.
As for the wall in the Westbank, It has worked magnificently. It reduced terrorist attacks by 99โ . I thought you were talking about that one as that is the most controversial. - +1 y
@qdoek I'm not sure of anything!! I know a few Jewish people, and a few Arabs, and so on, and so on!! I HATE that my friends HATE each other, and I don't really understand why!!
I can only go out with certain ones, and to certain places!! I understand Kosher, and Halal, and we go to different places, but the food is similar.
I think, ultimately, that if there is a SOLUTION, it is finding the COMMON THINGS, maybe with a 'mediator' and find a way to accept our 'different' 'similarities'!!! - +1 y
@qdoek I agree. There is a lot of hatred on both sides. We faced something similar, in the US, causing the civil War. Afterward, it took many years, then more. Even now, 150 years later, many still feel that there is 'bias' and 'Racism'. I think some have a legitimate point, but angry riots, protests that close down highways, and public access, doesn't help their cause!
Some of my friends have compared the Israel/Palestinian issue to something like the Illegal Immigrants from Mexico, coming into the US.
Most are good people, and just want to work, and earn money, to raise families. Sadly, some others seem to use that as a route in, to cause trouble.
I can't say, for certain, as I don't know anything but what I have heard from friends on both sides!!
I HATE being in the middle, liking all of them, on opposite sides!!
Hasn't this dispute, between the Israelis and the Palestinians been going on since, well, since people started recording things? - +1 y
@qdoek I think it started before that, when the UN made Israel a nation in 1948. I think that was the start of it. The 'Outside World' made a 'Jewish Nation' in Arab land (what one of my Lebanese friends said). I don't know if it is right, or not, just what a friend said.
Then, a Jewish friend, later, said that GOD gave them that land.
I'm confused!!
I kind of just wish I could get all of them together, and just go out, for CHINESE FOOD!!! NEUTRAL, and be FRIENDS, rather than being between all their disagreements with each other! - +1 y
Okay, the dispute between the Palestinians and Israel in 1967 and between other Arab nations and Israel in 1948. The UN did not create Israel though, they offered a solution but the Arabs rejected it and war followed. Arabs lost the war and Israel was born.
I do agree with your last statement but the hatred from the Arabs to Israel is unbelievable thus that will not happen. Israelis constantly have to protect themselves in war to save themselves from annihilation which ofcourse results in mutual hatred. - +1 y
@qdoek the Arabs rejected it and attacked the Jewish land wanting to kill every man woman and child but the brave Jews fought hard and their attackers fled forfeiting their lands.

+1 yI would tell the Palestinians that if they want a solution they have to acknowledge Israel's right to exist and stop paying bounties to the families of suicide bombers and other terrorists. It's up to the Palestinians. They rejected the two state plan put forth at Camp David during the last part of the Bill Clinton administration. And when they did they launched the intifada. They will also have to remove Hamas from power in Gaza because Hamas periodically likes to start launching missiles aimed at civilian areas in Israel. It's hard to have peace when terrorists are launching missiles at civilians.

+1 yI would tell Israel to TAKE MORE LAND. No matter what Israel gives up, the world will side against them. They will have to defend themselves in perpetuity. If they give anything up, then the world will demand they give MORE up even after a deal has already been made. They won't be satisfied until Israel ceases to exist. So why bother trying to compromise. Don't give up ANYTHING. TAKE MORE LAND! The more land they take, the safer they will be.
imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/8910/VbZ2mC.png10 ReplyForce Palestinians out so their muslim neighbors take them in.
But the funny thing is, not even their muslim neighbors want to take them in, because no matter how much of a genocide they wish against Israel, they still don't want to make it look like THEIR country should be considered home for the Palestinians either.
Because deep down their Arab brethren know that Palestinians are just trouble, they will pretend to hate Israel but they lowkey wish them to destroy Hamas and the resistance because they already got enough problems of their own.
Ironic isn't it.11 Reply- +1 y
Well I don't think it's that other arab countries think Palestinians are trouble. With the notable exception of Jordan and Lebanon most arab countries in the area haven't been taking in Syrians either. +1 yNuke the Kaaba, discredit Hamas once and for all, exterminate their pedo rings, open Alaska for drilling, put Saudi Arabia in the poor house, and let Israel clean up the garbage. Israel will simply continue to be. It's the Arab invader criminals who choose to be at war with it. Many Arabs refuse to be radicalized, and live in peace as Israelis. Let the ones who insist on death to Israel join Amalek on the ash heap of history.

The Palestinians should stay where they are, and stop using kids as shields. Stop attacking Israel.10 Reply3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Before a solution can be made, the US must become even handed first in the situation instead of highly favoring Israel over Palestine. In the meantime Israel will just fight against Palestine and vice versa and there is nothing anyone can do about that.10 ReplyA two state solution would be the closest to relative peace. It will never be completely peaceful, the Palestinians do not and will never accept the existence of Israel. Therefore there will always be terrorist attacks, fights, wars in Gaza and such. We don't even know what would happen to the Westbank if Israel leaves. There could be a struggle for power between Hamas and the PLO.
11 ReplyWell, my first answer would be exodus of the Arab muslims, but that would just create refugee camps, Saudi maddrassas and taliban style fanatics, but since the status quo can only lead to international condemnation and the arabs breeding until it's a veritable South Africa situation is begin putting sterilization drugs in their water supply. There has never in the history of the world been any nation named Palestine. So how could a nation that never existed have any borders or sovereign rights?
The imaginary nation of "Palestine" had no currency, no language and no government. Why? Because it's about as real as unicorns and the Lost city of Atlantis. - +1 y
@MementoMori_ They had a currency, a language, a government, a religion and borders too. They have been terrorized for over 80 or 90 years now. Even if what you said is right, what's your point? It was a land of Arabs and Jews decided it's theirs.
- +1 y
- +1 y
@MementoMori_ They have the Jordanian Dinar and the Egyptian Pound. I don't remember where I read it, but it's well known by most Arabs. Even though what's the point, what gives Jews the right to terrorize them for nearly a century?
- +1 y
"It was a land of Arabs and Jews decided it's theirs."
That is false. It was a no-mans land prior to 1947 which in part was owned by Egypt but mostly not owned by anyone because no one wanted it. It was a useless barren wasteland of nomads before the Israeli's made it into an oasis in the dessert and one of the most productive and desirable pieces of land in the Middle East. Even if you don't want to believe in the Bible and that God promised this land to the Jews, there are plenty of other reasons why they Jews have a legitimate claim. The Jews have had a continuous presence on there since Biblical times even after they were driven out in the Exodus, they legally purchased large tracts of the land from their Arab owners, they were legally granted a large part of the current Israel by a duly recognized and authorized international body of law and they acquired the rest by pushing back when they were illegally attacked by surrounding Muslim countries multiple times in a defensive war. - +1 y
@MementoMori_ No, that's not the case, Jew gangs started to create temptation the war.
- +1 y
Baloney. Give your sources. You are making it up as you go. In 1947 United Nations Resolution 181 legally granted a large portion of today's Israel to the Jewish people and established the legal nation of Israel. Israel was then immediately attacked by 7 surrounding barbaric Muslim countries in an illegal war of aggression against Israel. Since then these countries have ganged up on Israel and attacked it several other times each time losing the wars even though they outnumbered the Israelis by at least 100 to one. No one even wanted the land Israel acquired before the Israelis turned the useless dessert there into a beautiful country. They bought a lot of that land for nothing from Arabs who owned it because it was worthless when the Israelis acquired it. Now that the Israelis turned it into the most valuable real estate in the region the Muslims are trying to steal it from them. Bad news for these Muslim terrorists... NEVER AGAIN!
- +1 y
@MementoMori_ You're like the person who shuts his eyes and says I don't see what you're pointing at. If you simply google it you'll find your answer, but you only search for what you want justified. There are lots of evidence that what the Jews are doing is pure evil. Killing Palestinian civilians everyday isn't what should be happening and not what Israel have promised, as they said they aren't gonna kill civilians, but they actually do that on a daily basis. You don't want to find the truth you just want to justify what you believe is right. Good luck with that.

They already lived there. They have lived there for thousands of years the muslims were just another invader and oppressor. But yes the large numbers of Jews returning home helped matters. The Jews were giving a tiny piece of land to self govern that they lived in but the Arabs could not accept that because they wanted to dominate other people's just as they always have.
- +1 y
Actually it was the end of ww1 when the ottomans lost the holy land and most of the Middle East to the French and British. After ww2 to keep the peace Britain was preventing Jews from entering, that's why the Jews were launching terror attacks against them. The Jews of Palestine were instrumental in holding Palestine as a lot of Arabs in the middleeast were revolting and leaders were making deals with the Nazis. The soviets actually armed the Jews with Palestine often with excellent nazi equipment including bf109's while the Arabs used brittish equipment. The Jews of Palestine had a lot of well trained officers and men veterans of ww2 and serving with every allied army.

Technically Israel is already outnumbered from a military standpoint if Palestine under normal circumstances would crush Israel if it were any other nation on earth. But Palestine will never destroy Israel.
And technically that land has been Israel's long before Palestine was Palestine, Israel has been on that land since it was known as the land of Canaan.
Also Palestine had the chance to actually legally posses the land and make it part of Palestine but never did.

Burden of proof is on people who make a claim, in this case the claim is that God exists. But it's pretty obvious when you look at the polytheistic religions that came before that they had a different God for everything they couldn't explain. Monotheism just clumps them all together and whenever science does explain something religions backpedal and pretend they didn't have it wrong the whole time.
