I haven't heard about her in years. Is she still being rated, period?

I used to like her a lot actually. Every so often the music-o pitchforky scene picks a really bland pop artist to say 'no this one's actually good' and I feel like she was that for a short period. Looking back I don't know what I saw in her. I think I thought there was some kind of meta-level ironic commentary thing but really it was just straight up, y'know, whatever - nothing too ineresting. Her 'I Kissed a Girl' and 'Ur So Gay' songs are basically just inexcusable homophobia lmfao. 'Fireworks' was like a knee-jerk response to that I feel like, even though basically no one actually criticized her for it. But that was an embarassing song, fuck. The 'Intolerance' to her 'Birth of a Nation', right

Who could have known, then, the best electropop singer of that crowd would be Carly Rae Jespen! 'Call Me Maybe' Carly Rae Jespen!

Nah, I'm not the biggest fan of her music, but there's no one else who can really compete in her genre. She's got a sweet little niche carved out for herself in the pop world.

Look I love old school rock (queen bon jovi) and metal so I might not be the best judge here but I think yeah. Now don't get me wrong the woman has some good songs but I think that she is a bit over rated.
