Vladimir Vladimirovich is centrist, thus he doesn't attack left-wing or right-wing, but instead he tends to rally both sides for the good of Russian Federation, while keeping it democratic and trying to keep left & right wings from fighting each other -- hence why such incredibly large support towards him, that's basically unachievable in Europe or North America.
As a long-term strategist, he does challenge (intellectually) retarded concepts, such as far-left (libtards and such) and far-right (neo-nazis).
Somehow miraculously he nearly always succeeds at all of this. How exactly he manages to do all of that at the same time I'll never know.
However, on point as to why such perception about communism exists in the West:
1.) Communist Party is not banned (unlike in some (((democratic))) countries, kek) and always participates in elections, usually scoring as either 3rd or 4th.
2.) Quite a lot of politicians in the West are outright jealous of Vladimir Vladimirovich and his nearly universal approval among citizens (80%-90% of approval is basically unheard of in the West nowadays!) and even approval from foreigners abroad!
At some point some British newspapers made a discovery that more common Britons would prefer Vladimir Vladimirovich as prime minister of United Kingdom than donkeys such as Cameron: www.express.co.uk/.../Vladimir-Putin-David-Cameron-poll-who-want-British-PM
He's conservative centrist, openly Christian, democratic, straight, charismatic, pro-life (can anyone name a politician that can hold a LIVE conference with his citizens for a few hours in a row answering all sorts of questions coming from simple folks, instead of journalists?), anti-libtard, anti-(((globalist))), witty, smart and patriotic -- pretty much everything that typical Western leader is not allowed to be nowadays. Jealousy and fear in his enemies evolves in attempts to smear him in the eyes of common Westerner by simply demonizing him -- which includes calling him communist (which he clearly is NOT) and whatnot.
3.) A lot of Westerners, especially (not intended as an offense, but rather as observation) Americans are self-centered, ie they seldom bother to learn anything about other countries, especially if those countries aren't English. Hence they tend to be stuck with the same perception for decades; And this mentality is artificially developed by (((media))) bias, where they'll buy whatever bullshit some (((CNN)) is telling them as a crystal clear truth.26 Reply- +1 y
The triple parenthesis are called 'echoes', and they're a nazi dogwhistle for 'jews' - the '(((media))) bias' here means the 'jewish media bias' etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_parentheses

And (((wikipedia))) is biased on this one (who would've thought, eh?). There's a difference between desire of self-preservation and (((white supremacy))) concept, something that (((they))) always try to smear. - +1 y

+1 yI think that's mostly Americans. I haven't really heard any European say that. And it's especially ironic because the red scare is still pretty strong in the US, yet Russia would probably be better off if it still was the Soviet Union, despite all the terrible stuff that was going on back then.

+1 yIt was never communist, anyway - it was *socialist*, and hoped to one day transition into a communist society, but it never got there. Hence Khruschev, 'your grandchildren will live under communism' (har har)
It's mostly NATO propaganda cold war posturing, I think.16 Reply- +1 y

+1 yMy guesses and analysis:
-Lack of accountable education on political grounds. Following invalid sources and platforms. Following the headlines they hear blindly and speaking accordingly.
-Soviet Union been a Communist. It's possible that some people claim Russia as Communist because they have this theory that Russia born with the core of Soviet Union and the underlying laws and constitutions are built accordingly. Even if the whole rule of the country has changed but some would link Soviet and Russia align with the same root.
-America and Russia are two big challengers for decades. Majority of Americans do not like the Russian Government. On the other hand, Some Americans firmly are entitled to the American Freedom. They grew with this mentality that America is the only massively free country on the planet. Which is false and there are load of free constituted countries across the globe. In co-relation of this point. Many Americans calling Russia communist because they believe U. S is all freedom and others are rating below America's range. I don't know about other Western regions. Just speaking about U. S.
-People always love to talk. Stereotypes and catchphrases that carries on. Almost every nation in this world is a victim of one or two stereotype. Arabs carry the name of terrorists. Germans carry the name of Hitler's sons. Nordic regions carry the title of darkness and depression. Americans carry a tone of them such as rudeness, selfishness, fatness, rich reckless people etc and Russia carry the old reputation of being Communist. It's just people's mouth that enjoys running and the stereotypes that remains for no particular reason.10 Reply- 1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yBecause that's how it is. Russia since October 1917 and until now is COMMUNIST.
There is no freedom of expression (I have a real case with a person from Novosibirsk/Siberia).
There is no freedom of the press and only propaganda is broadcast.
The history of Russia is falsified only in its favor and does not correspond to those of the countries related to it.
Putin is a former KGB agent, and this criminal past shows him in his true splendor as a damned communist.
Putin leads Russia without promoting a free market of development, Putin did not reform Russia in any way, he only increased the export of gas and oil to create the impression of development.
Many journalists were shot, threatened, arrested for exposing corruption in the Kremlin.
Russian intellectuals complain about freedom of speech, the depreciation of the economy, mafia gangs.
It is a weaker economy than my country, which is from the former communist bloc.
Russia is a communist monstrosity that should be destroyed, at least Putin and his entire network of bastards.I know this information even from authentic Russian sources like Anna Politkovskaya and others who die afther keep talking about Russian political regim and Putin.

+1 yMost Americans don't really know how to separate communism, socialism, fascism etc. Sadly a lot of us tend to use any random term that we feel sounds bad to describe someone we don't agree with without actually knowing the definition or doing research. Lots of times it also ends up being terms on complete opposite ends of the spectrum to attack someone or something. As far as Russia in particular, it's because of the whole soviet era terminology that is still around whenever Russia is thought up.

+1 ybecause my country has poor reporting skills and people just have a deep fear of communism after Russia fell and it looks like what America is heading for. so Russia is a scape goat

+1 yBecause people are fools. Russia got rid of the communist swine in 1991. The only people in Russia that support it today are all the old farts about to pop it. (Or the mislead youth) I would like Marxism to be completely banned but eh, let the fools believe that another Communist state will rise.

+1 yBecause Russia is trying to go back to the Soviet Union days. Putin said so himself that he wants to bring Russia back "to the glory days" of Soviet Russia.
19 Reply- +1 y
But calling it "the glory days" seems to contradict that.
Are you one of those blind faith Putin followers who doesn't see the obvious corruption? I know the Russian trolls are still on this site promoting Trump. - +1 y
Don't put too much stock in your democrat's russophobic hysteria, John. There's really no connection between Trump and Putin, or Putin and anything but old, ordinary reactionary capitalism. Both of them are just familiar right-wing populism.
- +1 y
@Laura_Marx no connection at all? Yeah right. You've either been brainwashed by Fox News or you haven't paying attention to the media. Trump is closely linked with Putin, spending time with him and is under investigation for using Russia to help him win the election.
I'm not getting this from one news source, but multiple news outlets. - +1 y
How are you feeling about this perspective now, so many months later?
- +1 y
@Laura_Marx I feel the same.
- +1 y
I guess its incurable :P
- +1 y
@Laura_Marx being informed and suspicious of the government is curable: I can become a close minded conservative.
well tbh tho, the living conditions and wealth gap didn't change. the form or government did, but all the power is still held by a few wealthy individuals.
15 Reply- +1 y
actually Putin has been dismantling oligarchs and the population's quality of life has been increasing until recent sanctions
- +1 y
Try 1940s the higher members of the communist party bought the vast majority of stock vouchers from the unknowing populace when communism fell so they could keep both their power and money. Yeltsin was too weak of a leader to stop it and Putin removed to oligarchy once he rose to power. since then Russian standard of living has increased by a lot.
Putin is a dictator and the state still controls the entire economy so it's pretty similar to how things were in the USSR

I know that's why I mentioned Russian oligarchs because Russia today isn't communist but has capitalism and powerful corrupt oligarchs.
