Why do Liberals always blame Russia? Why all the Russianphobia?

Russia has always been a favourite Bogeyman for the West.

The Revolutions in Russia are somewhat of a cause for that, but it wasn't till the end of World War 2 that Russia, the USSR, became the West's Nemesis.

There was, in my opinion, a lot wrong with the USSR... but not to the extend the 'Cold War propaganda' many of us have grown up under here in the West.

The first lie was that Stalin wanted to conquer Europe after World War 2; Churchill couldn't wait to start 'World War 3' against the USSR, but the US refused to go along. Fact is that the Soviet Union was depleted after World War 2; the Soviet Union had gained so much after 4 years of bitter fighting in which millions of people had died and large parts of the country had been devastated... The Soviet Union would have had nothing to gain from a war against the West, and everything to lose which they had fought so hard for to gain in the first place. It also needs to be taken into account that the USSR did not possess Atomic Weapons yet; meaning the USSR would be at a severe disadvantage would a war break out between the West and the USSR. The US would not have hesitated to 'nuke' Russian cities to force a quick surrender of the USSR.

Stalin wanted closer cooperation with the West and requested to join NATO. Stalin was even willing to 'release' the DDR (East-Germany) which would ensure a German Unification; but it was the US, UK and, especially, the BRD (West-Germany) which refused Stalin's offer. Why would the BRD refuse German Unification? The West-German CDU was the biggest political party and would lose it's dominance in the event of a German Unification.
The reason why Stalin made this proposal is because he feared a militarisation of the BRD; and that's exactly what the West did: Militarise West-Germany.

Due to the Anti-Communist Cold War Propaganda the 'Red Scare' started to run deep in our Western Societies... and it never really disappeared; not even after 'Communism' collapsed in the USSR. It became somewhat less because Russia had effectively been pacified by the West and the country was being led by the incompetent drunkard Boris Yeltsin. He desperately sought closer ties with the West too, and sacrificed everything in a desperate attempt to achieve that...

... and there comes a rather obscure man name Vladimir Putin who due to circumstances is being propelled into the position of 'Acting Prime Minister' and Yeltsin announced that he wanted Putin to be his successor.

Russia was in a near state of complete chaos; corruption ran high; weapon stocks were being raided and sold on the black market; former state companies were being bought up on the cheap; massive inflation. Many of those Russian Oligarchs gained their wealth through seer theft and plunder of Russian State Resources.

Regardless of what people think of Putin and his methods, under his presidencies he sorted out the national problems; Russia has risen up from the devastation left behind after the collapse of 'Communism'. Russia will not let itself be 'dictated' by the West anymore as was the case under Yeltsin... and this of course brought back all the old rivalries of the Cold War between the US and Russia.

That Anti-USSR, and thus Anti-Russia, propaganda of the Cold War has been so successful that even now, only a couple of decades after the USSR collapsed, the 'Red Scare', and thus the fear of Russia, still runs deep.

Just look at how easily people got convinced that Russia wants to conquer Europe after Russia has conquered Ukraine. Russia isn't interested in mass conquest; whatever Russia wanted to annex has been annexed already. Ukraine has been removed as a threat to Russia because the country has been devastated, and despite massive Russian loses Ukraine, and thus NATO, has lost. The continuation of this war only serves the purpose of hurting Russia financially and militarily more but despite Ukraine's little adventure into Russia both attempts are failing day by day.
Ukraine has also been eliminated as a Transit-Country for Russian LNG to Europe; the whole cause of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia which has been spanning nearly 2 decades now. The conflict started out as a business dispute, but due to the continuous Western involvement and a couple of coups/ 'revolutions' the dispute turned into conflict and eventually into open warfare. LNG never stopped flowing, other pipelines became more important and Ukraine has been completely bypassed which means the country will miss out on a massive amount of revenue a year.

It's a war of Attrition now between NATO and Russia, neither is going to give up while Ukraine is being sacrificed more and more until there is nothing left... But NATO, our governments, can only keep prolonging this fruitless war as long as they enjoy the support of our populations. As long as people keep believing the Anti-Russian Propaganda and thus stay afraid of Russia, Russophobia, support for NATO's war will be sufficient to keep prolonging this war.

In France we don't because we have long history with Russia, a lot of rich Russian in the 19th / 20th went to France for holiday and later on for refugee because of the revolution in Russia in early 20th. There's also an Orthodox church in Nice called Saint Nicolas build in 1859, it was build by the Tsarina for Russian people living / coming on Holiday there.

We still have many Russian people living in South East France today. There's normal Russian, Oligarch and also the Russian mafia.

As for liberal the ironic things is that in France the most liberal (extrem left right) and extrem right wing absolute adore Russia, right wing because Putin represent order and laws and extrem left because Russia represent the communism / Marxist era. (Communism come from Russia and French communist have always been close to Russia since always (Russian revolution also got inspired from French revolution) just as any of our right wing president for example De Gaulle who had good relationship with URSS).

As for why American liberal hate Russian I don't know. Right wing hate Russian in America because they see them as commie while some other may love Russia but liberal I have no idea.

Iraq was basically because Saddam tried to have GWB's daddy assassinated after the first Gulf War (and GWB also blamed him for GHWB's loss to Clinton) and so they were looking for any inkling to tie Iraq to 9/11, though there was no reason to believe there was a connection.

And Ukraine was not on the verge of joining NATO, though they wanted to; events showed they had a very good reason for wanting that. Putin was pissed when his puppet was ousted from power in Ukraine.

The fact is the US has growing internal opposition on behalf of the things you criticize. Russia does not. How do you know people don't get murdered by the elites in the west? In the west they meet with an "accident" or "suicide". For instance one ex Clinton aide killed himself by shooting himself in the stomach with a shotgun then climbed up a tree to hang himself, then mysteriously hid the shotgun.
