I'm not being serious about the hairstyle belonging to any culture, even if it does, almost every hairstyle that "belongs" to other cultures was merely adapted by another.
I think the SJW version of Cultural Appropriation is lacking. I think CA is taking a culture and saying every aspect of said cultural came from you. Basically stealing a culture.
The thing that makes many nations unique is the fact that they adopted many ideas from different cultures, the thing I love about the U. S is how diverse it is and many people love that about the States, The Culture Appropriation will only ruin that.
I agree, but even in places like Japan, they will tell you that most is of their traditions and cultures came from the Koreas and China.
In those cultures traditions and ancestors are a big thing so they love to keep track of it, there's nothing wrong with knowing where your tradition comes from but it's not yours nor theirs. You can adapt from different cultures and it shouldn't be a problem.
So, American Culture (as an overarching thing) does not belong to America or the people who developed it? What about British Culture? Ghanaian culture? That's where you and I defer because I believe a culture can belong to a group of people, but that doesn't stop other people from enjoying it.
My college friend is Indian and he bought be a Sari. I'm not Indian, I'm Israeli and that is not apart of my culture, but I was about to enjoy it.
By saying it can't be "yours or theirs" I'm not saying it's not part of your culture but just saying it's not limited to yours.

Considering Africans evolved first, no, they weren't around before there were black people. The first humans were very likely black.

As a black woman, I actually say yes it is. Not when we just use a straightener to flat iron our hair, but when we get relaxers (a chemical treatment that alters the texture of our hair, kind of like a keratin treatment). Now I will say that a lot of black women get relaxers to be more accepted in society, as we're often ostracized for wearing our natural hair, but it is still appropriation.
