Nothing says get crapped on like the pump in between shots, and somehow, it just feels right you know.
Those semi things just don’t feel like real shotguns, pump action gives you a quick second to take a look at the carnage before the next wave of destruction is sent out 😜
No. Pumps are simple to maintain, easy to operate, and intimidating as hell. Just the sound of a slide being worked is often enough to send the punks scurrying.
I think insane recoil is reason enough to down-check them. YMMV, of course.
there's Loads of better and more precise weapons just as intimidating wouldn't you agree? Furthermore, 'being Intimidating' is no quality i like in a police officer. I prefer temperance, restraint and a desire to avoid use of force if possible.
@southpaw8000 The purpose of being intimidating IS the avoidance of using force. And not just for the constabulary; for everyone. If the sound of the slide being pulled back is enough to get the bad guys to flee or surrender, all the better. And thus, temperance and restraint are also served...
Fair point
However in britain police dont carry firearms, has to be called in and yet there is no anarchy there. Maybe we have different take on things : i think, except for the rare psychopath, most criminals also want tot avoid people getting hurt. But hey, im belgian.. thanks for ur respectful response sir
@southpaw8000 Always happy to help. :) To be fair, there's no anarchy (or very little) in the US, either. More like the occasional flaring of tempers.
From our perspective this flatingen of temper comes across more as a a sad neverending string of school shootings and other gun related violence to be frank sir, but hey: IT is your land and we have to respect your way of life and handling things, European s still can learn a lot from the americans when it comes to acting when needed
@southpaw8000 Different cultural imperative, I think. This leads to different solutions. In the US, we have less faith in our institutions, including Law Enforcement. So there's a strong impetus to self-reliance. Also. for much of our history, the individual stood alone against the bad guys, be they criminals or the Powers That Be. Simple geographic isolation was a root cause of a lot of it. And we didn't actually get support from King George, when we were a colony.
But i can't Imagine a sensible man like yourself is ok with heavy assault weapons being sold to civilians (in some States of course) or jumpy adolescents?
@southpaw8000 "assault weapon" is a cosmetic thing; having no bearing on the actual firepower involved. Same caliber and action with a wooden stock is NOT an assault weapon. So yeah, I'm okay with selling them to civilians. The whole point is to create a pool of practiced shooters used to military-grade firearms, to pull from in case of emergency. Rather like Switzerland.
Yeah but you talk with great respect about law enforcement officials but yet you do not trust them? This seems like a paradox. And this pool of practiced shooters: where better to train Them than the army? Teenagers with Clint Eastwood aspirations can't be the at the centre of this pool hopefully
Dont get me wrong my father owns several weapons: hidden away safely. He has never not once even let me see Them because i was a hothead in my early 20s😊
And i would Imagine firing a weapon at a shooting range is different than in the stress and adrenaline in combat situations.
@southpaw8000 Of course teens with Clint Eastwood aspirations (I love that phrase; I'm going to steal it, thank you) are in the pool; they make up the bulk of the military. 17-19 year olds.
@southpaw8000 As for trust for uniforms, we have too many examples of police misconduct to ever trust them fully. But I respect the calling, just as I respect priests as a class, despite numerous examples of pedophilic ones.
My friend i have the letters ACAB tattood on my neck so i hear you
@southpaw8000 I have no idea what that means, but we stray from the topic. PM me if you want to continue.
Its the anarchist slogan alle cops are bastards.. as i said i was a hothead. ill call IT a night die today nice talking i Will speak to you later sir
@southpaw8000 Cheers, then!

In law enforcement u mean sir? I would say yes, no range no accuracy i fail to see any use for Them, except maybe stopping a vehicle..
Shotguns don't have the overpenetration problem that rifles and handguns often do. They also work much better at breech. Skeet shooters can tell you that range and accuracy are still quite good with a shotgun. They still have their place.
I dont claim any expertise on the matter 😊 just seemed like the equivalent of our riot gun thats all.
Ah, no. A riot gun is usually what we would call a "sawed-off" or "open choke snub." Deliberately short barrels, they're made for doing damage over a broad area, rather than hunting or precision shooting.
I see. Most western European countries are flooded with old but in many cases never used weapons from the looted military depots in former yugoslavia. While the state of the art FN weapons ( the iconic FN FAL, now FNC) is a thriving export product..
People here are not used to seeing weapons in public, i guarantee you one could rob a full restaurant here with a plastic BB gun😁
Which is what most gangsters tend to do, they re not out to kill anyone do to be sure nothing escalates they operate with empty clips, and shooting a police man is considered the end of their 'career'
Pump actions are more common than any other action for shotguns
no they are very common
Hell no
