Why do you even care or want to even entertain an idea of what your friends think about this guy? I was always a "popular" guy, and in college I was "Johnny Frat Boy" or whatever. My girlfriend wasn't someone who was "hot", or "popular" or outgoing even. She was very cute, very humble and just overall awesome. Well she eventually started trying to look hot and succeeded. It got in her head and now she is a total shallow attention whore. Who cares about status, or how your popularity will be affected by who you're dating. Go with your heart. You won't be friends with these people 5 years from now anyway.
Date him, popularity means absolutely nothing outside school... If you like someone then date them, if people ditch you for that, then they aren't real friends, just shallow losers.
i think nerds are hot too. date him asap! if you get along great and both like each other I would go for it. I'm assuming that you are in high school and trust me petty high school status doesn't last forever. it may seem like the most important thing now, but its not. great guys are hard to come by, and if youve found one.. go for it! if anything your friends will be jealous that you found such a genuinely nice guys. :)
i think if you like him and he likes you then you should be together. people do change when they get around certain people so maybe he will "bounce to the top". do what makes you happy. always. hope this helped :).
Forget about what your friends might think. If they're really your friends, then they'll want you to be happy no matter who you're with. Go for it
