Why do you think Auschwitz had a swimming pool?

what we term “Auschwitz” is not one camp, but three: a concentration camp, a labor camp, and a death camp. The “swimming pool” was in Auschwitz I - the concentration camp (or KZ) of Auschwitz.
Why was the pool constructed?
This so-called swimming pool was, in actual fact, a large water reservoir. The construction of this reservoir was to serve in the event of a fire.
In 1943, the camp commandant, Rudolph Höss, was replaced with Arthur Liebehenschel. Liebehenschel was replaced again with Höss, since he was widely regarded as being too “soft” on the inmates. When he arrived at the camp, for example, he sought to put an end to sporadic beatings, and added diving boards to the water reservoir so that privileged prisoners (Kapos and Aryan prisoners), as well as the camp’s SS functionaries, could be rewarded with a swim.
I don't find that account persuasive. I think it is obvious that it is a pool.
dummkopf. I already explained it. The diving boards were added later.
It seems like they are desperately trying to tell us a pool is not a pool. I think we need to stop indulging people who are trying to tell us circles are square. I don't like being taken for a fool, and I think all of these explanations are designed for people who don't like to use their brains a lot. I don't know what it was used for, but I am 100% convinced that this is a pool.
you need to stop this foolishness
I don't know. Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be baked with you.
so the nazi solidiers could host fun pool parties for the jews
Maybe there were sharks in the pool. And piranhas.
They did have an orchestra there...

Because you need to shower first before you're allowed into the pool.
lmao
Makes it easier for the life guard on duty.
I have no idea but I would like to live there, look at how comfy that place is.
Beats certain ghettos for sure.
probably another way to torture the Jewish prisoners. Ice swimming, forcing them to hold their breath for a laugh.
sharks?
Probably to relieve the guards stess level. A lot of them cracked because of the constant killing. They where concerned for the mental stability of the soldiers, but not the prisoners.
But the guards weren't killing anyone, they were just guards. Also, the pool is next to the inmates' living quarters. I have never heard any witness accounts suggesting Germans were swimming there.
They did have an orchestra and a football field, among other things.
Inmates built it and they swam in it. Contrary to popular belief, inmates didn't have it that bad i Auschwitz. Bad stuff is either overexaggerated or propaganda.
Why did it have a football field or an orchestra? You will never see Spielberg showing that in his films.
probably for the soldiers
Maybe it was for the Nazi soldiers off duty.
It wouldn't be located next to the living quarters where the inmates were housed. The soldiers were housed elsewhere.
Probably represents tears
