History question, Why were the Japanese placed in camps during WW2?

Before you report this question, this is not some kind of idiotic racist thing. I personally can't understand the logic. They were citizens, We essentially violated their rights doing that. I can't find a good reason why Wilson signed executive order 9066. The only thing that comes up is fear of disloyalty and terrorism.

If it were me that did it, the only reason i could think of, would be to protect them from assholes that would harm them, not out of some risk or disloyalty. But still i would never, ever even consider doing something like that.

Basically when we did that, we in some small ways became like Hitler when he sent the Jews to concentration camps. While not as bad, its still evil as fuck, and something i hope my country isn't stupid enough to ever repeat.
