YouTuber's Views On Cultural Appropriation, Thoughts?

To be privileged is to not know why someone is offended and not have to care. The lady had no right to insult him but he might not understand her anger or want to care after she lashed out. I remember in high school and grade school being made fun of or people asking why I don't comb or flat iron hair when I wore an afro my natural curly hair and then when natural hair movement started girls of different race got perms to have afros and people said they look cute. There are biracial people with natural hair too but what people fail to understand is everyone can do natural hair or any styles of different culture as long as it's not one sided. Both should be considered nice, professional for work and stylish. Otherwise it's wrong and mean.
Technically everything is cultural appropriation.
Agree.
How is a hair color culture
@thottttiana how is skin color a cultural thing, how are braids and weaves cultural considering every culture has a history of them dating back to stone age times?
When did I say that
@thottttiana same thing.
Blond is not specifically a white trait. The Solomon Islands have naturally Black blondes. And if you want to be honest with yourself and your own people, it was WHITE SOCIETY who has been dictating what is the standard of "beauty." So if you are offended, look in the mirror as to who to blame.
@Bro-ham naturally black blondes with curly hair.
The Solomon islands are not in Africa. Blonde hair there is not common and their hair usually darkens to black when they become adults. You can't appropriate these people's culture and race as many African Americans are trying to do with native Americans.
Actually it's African Americans who are dictating what is cultural appropriation, they just don't like it when that same bullshit is applied to them.

doesn't matter if they are not in Africa. Black natives are everywhere. Nobody is appropriating blonde hair. You are making an ignorant argument that only whites have blonde hair and you are using Black women as an excuse to appropriate other Black cultures. Funny how you dont go into Asians who routinely get eye surgery and dye their hear blonde.
"Actually," cultural appropriation is a white machine. The first cowboys were in fact Blacks taught by Mexicans in western Texas. Country music originated from Blacks. Rock n Roll? Black. Its documented that the "King of Rock n Roll" took music listening to Black. Jazz? Black. Blues? Black. R&B? Black. Hip Hop? Black. Techno/house? Black music that originated in Detroit. African Americans are the most culturally appropriated people on the planet. Just look at articles and movies now trying to be "hip." You even copy Black vernacular developed among Blacks. In Black society, there is a rule: Something is played out the second white society catches on. Thats why Black culture is so dynamic with the appearance of being a trend. I will even go back centuries:
The term "music is good for the soul" came out of Africa, because they used music also as a form of medicine and treatment. They understood then that sonic vibrations can break up a blood clot, so they would pluck the string of an instrument (harp) over the ailment. Overall, white culture (primarily white american) is dependent on appropriating Black culture. Without Blacks being the driving force, white america will fall into an identity version of limbo. Why else do you out of 6+ billion obsess over a minute few.
@Bro-ham it matters to them that they are not African, you can't just lump all races together due the color of their skin.
I'm using black people appropriating other cultures while hypocritically protesting others who get dreadlocks etc as an example. White people have had dreadlocks since stone age times.
The first cowboys were spainish and Portuguese cow herders and didn't use lassos, white Americans knew how to herd cattle from horseback long before any black in the south was free.
Country music originated out of bluegrass that has it's roots in Scottish and Irish folk music.
Black. Jazz? Black. Blues? Black. R&B? Black. Hip Hop? Black a'll originates from those slaves who were taught by their owners how to play music so really they all have a European background.
Hollywood aims movies and tv shows at black people mostly because they watch so much tv.
Without white people occassionaly buying what black people produce in music, films and whatever else there would be no black culture.
White America is myriad of diverse cultures, traditions and histories we would be mighty white if y'all headed back to Africa.
The Hell?
Oh crap. I'm a Filipino in temperate climate near the middle of December, but I guess I'm stuck with tropical-suited loincloths, sarongs, malongs, and vests. Also, I guess I'll have to register to the Greek embassy for Greek citizenship to be eligible for democracy and…
Oh crap, English script it a derivative of the Greek alphabet. ᜉᜀᜈᜓ ᜀᜃᜓ ᜋᜄ᜔ᜐᜓᜐᜓᜎᜆ᜔ ᜉᜍ ᜋᜊᜐ ᜈᜒᜎ᜶
Wait a minute. I'm also a U. S. citizen, I should be able to use English… which was invented by the English in the U. K. and I'm no Englishman! Son of a— I mean, ᜀᜅ᜔ ᜁᜊᜒᜄ᜔ ᜐᜊᜒᜑᜒᜈ᜔ ᜃᜓ is…ᜀᜌ᜔᜵ ᜀᜌ… ᜶᜶᜶ ᜉᜓᜐᜅ᜔ ᜁᜈ᜶᜶᜶᜶᜶᜶
Cultural appropriation provides unity and and vibrancy to any culture. The USA is experienced it from the beginning onward. the successive incursions by Black Africans (although against their will) Italians, Poles, Irish, Cubans Latin Americans, East Asians (in west coast states) etc.
The current victimization mentality of this is just a tactic by the Left to keep people in warring tribes.
I think I'll listen to some Kentucky Bluegrass music, now. Oh Nooh, that was appropriated from Ireland. Oh Phew. Lucky I have Irish blood.

I personally don't think "cultural appropriation" is real. Or at least I don't think it's a big deal.
I agree with him, you can't fight racism with racism. I can't imagine having someone deny me from enjoying something because of my race.
Everything is mixed, and nearly everyone is mixed. There is no racial purity, and there is no cultural purity either. I don't know why this became a thing.
I disagree with him that it only targets white people. It's mostly white people being targeted, but Bruno Mars, Jennifer Lopez, and other races were attacked for "appropriating".
I don't understand because if we are to say, black people wear baggy pants and gold teeth, they get mad and say they hate that it's what we associate with "blackness". But then if someone non black wears those things, they get mad and say they're "profiting off their culture?" Like what? Do y'all wanna be stereotyped or not?
We should just laugh at people who try to push Cultural Appropriation as a thing. In the 90's sharing culture was literally heralded as a beautiful thing. Movies like Rush Hour even highlighted this point. People from different worlds coming together in a common space and getting along. The #1 sign of that community was sharing eachother culture.
If you want people to never get along, then tell them they can't take part in your culture and stone wall them. If you want peace, you want community and friendship. Then fuck-off with this cultural appropriation bullshit.
People who complain about this issue have depressing lives. Nobody loves them or cares for them so they need to get attention of others so they call out "cultural appropriation" so someone gives them attention. That's the whole thing really. Watch videos of these college students calling it out. Do you really expect people to care for them or love them? Most of the time they're seen to be very unintelligent people who lack any attractive appearance. This is the way for them to get attention and receive any form of love. Sad...
Cultural appropriation is a non issue. I've never heard anyone be genuinely upset when others outside their culture enjoy the culture. If it's a religious thing that's being used lightly then sure, I can see people getting upset, but hairstyles, most clothing, most art, everyone should enjoy it.
Cultural appropriation goes both ways. The reason people don't call it out when black people do it is because it's only problematic when there's a power dynamic. Personally, I think there are better topics to apply this to than dreadlocks, but that's what cultural appropriation is. It's not a one way street, but it's only problematic if the people appropriating have more power than those that they're taking from, and it results in harm done to the people that they're taking from.
I hate seeing people of other cultures other than black wearing dreadlocks. Simply because I don't think they understand the religious meaning behind it. I also think it's something a rich kid does whilst in college or during their gap year. I believe it's a form of rebellion, a symbol of non conforming to everyday societal values. So for me I find it offensive. It's not a trend it someone's culture, religion a way of life. Not something you can dispose of once you decide its time to grow up
https://youtu.be/Z5R3BPmm2u8
Whoopi has a good point
So there's a religious meaning behind it that only black people are allowed to believe?
Does that mean you hate seeing gay people get married because they don't understand the religious meaning behind it?
So Christianity has no objection to homosexuality?
And what's the religious meaning behind dreads?
Is being black a religion?
If you're not going to make a case for it to rudely try to hide your ignorance then yes, you really shouldn't be trying to educate anyone.
I will accept cultural appropriation as an issue only after the speaker gives up everything not invented by their culture. Their tune will change real quick when they dont have a refrigerator, a car, TV, a cellphone or computer.
To me cultural appropriation don't exist, since the beginning of culture people have taken what they liked from others countries and adopted them as their own so I really see no problem in it.
I couldn’t care less about it. 🤷🏾♀️
As long as these “appropriators” aren’t claiming to be the originator I don’t care who wears what.
I feel bad for people that believe this shit and actually spend time worrying about cultural appropriation. Wear what you like, how you like it. If someone assaults you for it, report their ass and send them to jail for being a violent criminal. Problem solved.
I have seen this video before and I was triggered as fuck. I commented that she should move back to her native land and should stop using English, phones, clothes, and every other thing that she uses because it isn't made by Blacks. To which a black guy responded and asked me what the hell I said. So I replied that it is not blacks who created all this. Everyone came together to create the America that exists today!
"Cultural Appropriation" is an affront to the very essence of what America stands for.
Sorry cultural appropriation does not exist... Its an idiotic buzz word to shame people that happen to like aspects of other cultures.
If you are one of the whiners who bitches about "cultural appropriation" then you should ONLY use the fucking language (s) and tools of your alleged culture.
Black people complain of cultural appropriation but we are letting them live in our civilization. Fucking thankless, soulless bastards are those minorities who complain about it.
I dont really care. I just think people look weird if they're doing something that's outside of their own culture.
It's more bullshit whining, fake victimhood, there is no such thing.
If there is such a thing, then only white people can use clean running water, modern medicine, jeans, indoor plumbing, cars, airplanes, farmed food, blonde hair, etc.
Cultural Appropriation doesn't exist. Period. It's just ficking hair, or clothes. People like it, they wear it, and that's all there is to it.
"cultural appropriation" is a complete utter myth and doesn't exist. People can wear whatever they want whenever they want.
It's a load of shit invented by trendy snowflakes.
Simples...
