"police" does not equal "good person."
I remember hearing from a woman whose father was raping her when she was 8 years old, and he was caught in the act by a police officer, and all that happened was that after a brief conversation with the dad, the policeman raped her too, and kept his mouth shut.
That guy was probably a cop for 30 years or more, and if he ever died on the job, he would have received a massive hero's funeral. Just like they all do. Good, bad, or indifferent.

they somewhat always give me the feeling that i have to hide something even though i did nothing wrong.
I wanna be a police officer one day and kick ass = find out all the corrupt cops and make them pay for being complete assholes (they donāt deserve badges!). Too many of these cops get off scott free from doing inhumane things to civilians only because they think theyāre above the law because theyāre āpolice officersā. They can go F themselves😤
Absolutely. I instantly feel guilty and start slowing down and getting paranoid. I have only been given a speeding ticket but its still a terrifying experience for me ā„ļø🥰

No, I feel extremely safe when I am in the presence of law enforcement. I know that most of them are well trained, dedicated, and have their hearts in the right place!
No not really. Their presence make me feel safe rather. Anyone feeling uncomfortable must have done something really wrong haha!
partly yes, due to having one of those faces where i seem to be questioned or persecuted without even being anywhere near the things they are investigating in at the time...
not saying i have never been arrested for things i wasn't connected to, but have been arrested once for something i did during defending a girlfriend at the time... and the 2nd time i was arrested was cos i had diffused a situation and protected my kids from someone who was intent on assaulting them... yet three weeks later i was arrested for ABH on said person when all i did was point at them and tell them to back off... yet cos of someone who was trying to protect their pervert son from being reported to the police and investigated for having a sex or grooming underage kids, they signed a so called witness statement and had me arrested... no proof but apparently cos of this statement that the person signed (even though they weren't there to see) the police had made up their own minds on my guilt...
and as such I was at the time facing a good length of time in prison for it, luckily for me I pointed out that the attacker's son had made death threats towards me and that had threatened to shoot and stab me...
when asked what i did in response... I told them i gave him my home address and told him what time i was gonna be in...No, why should I? I haven't done anything wrong. When I had Jury duty, last year, I talked with several of the police that were there to testify (on other cases) and several of the Sheriff's deputies.
Mostly we talked about their weapons, that they carried, and I was surprised with a few. We talked about target shooting, and other things they liked to shoot, and some liked hunting, and they were just normal people!
Talking with them, passed the time, waiting, with all the 'courtroom stuff' and the 'waiting'!
The case I was on lasted three days, and I knew four of the deputies by name, and said 'Good morning' starting with the second day! They were totally cool, and just like a friend. You know, I strangely do for some reason. I never felt safer just because I was in the presence of police, nor have I ever felt particularly good with them around me. I donāt have any bad or extensive experience with police, so itās not from that. Iām a criminal justice student and someone who is going into the law enforcement field in the near future, yet I feel a strange unsettling feeling when Iām around police. I donāt think theyāre going to tackle me out of the blue, but I think my feeling is attributable to an overall sense that a gun has been introduced into the arena and an agent of the state might naturally attract more danger than if not present. Itās a lack of control as well, so if the police wanted to go hands on with me, then thereās not a lot I could do. Honestly, thereās probably more, but Iāll just leave it that for the time being.
Kind of. I just donāt like seeing them around, makes me feel like I live in a police state. I donāt think theyāre all bad people or anything, but I definitely donāt agree with organized law & order, so we believe in very different things. So basically I demand to live the way I want to, by my own codes and standards, which arenāt really that different from the commonly accepted ones for the most part, but Iām not doing anything that doesnāt jive with my own reasoning, first and foremost. Other people will not control me in any way. Iāll fight that forever or die trying. So therefore, cops and I are forever at odds, although Iād say theyād likely be more trouble to me than Iād probably be to them. A cop pulled me over on my way home tonight, she was very pleasant, I have no ill will towards her, but the fact remains, no one should ever be able to stop me and check on my actions for any reason, Iām not accountable in life to anyone but myself, I donāt owe that to anyone.
I am the police.
If you want to know what cops are like, the other day one of my coworkers went to a call about an opossum. He picked it up with his (gloved) hands. His partner took a picture of him holding this deranged looking night-dweller in the middle of the day. Now our department has opossum pictures cropping up in random places. This is the nonsense I have to deal with lol never mind the actual calls I get :p
We're just normal people doing a not-so-normal job and trying to go home to our families at the end of the day just like most everyone else.No. I was a weird child. I've enjoyed baths, warm milk, vegetables, hospitals etc (sometimes all at once) since I was a kid. You know, things you're not meant to like as a kid.
There have been 164 replies but this is my two cents on the matter. I like the police. I think the film and media industry portrays them as the party poopers but they are just people. Sure some may secretly be rapists like bananaman177 has said. I am a civil engineer, and John Cramer from Saw franchise was one too, who the fuck saw that coming in his office?😂
Living in the UK we have some of the best police, with no guns as standard, fit & healthy and the ones I've dealt with have been nothing but friendly. They are just people like you and I, apart from the self sacrifice they are willing to make for our safety.Naturally, yes. Iāve been interrogated twice for misdemeanors, so I instinctively think theyāre there to hunt me down and arrest my ass 👮🏻āāļø🚓😅 Shortly after my 2nd trouble with the law, I nearly had a panic attack when a policeman approached my checkout at work... but, to my relief, he was only buying lunch, not there to arrest me 😌 The paranoia continues to this day though 😨
Always. No specific reason really, I just start getting super paranoid.
No. Why should I?
Well actually let me rephrase: I don't feel uncomfortable around police in the US or really any other north American or Western European country. While visiting communist or totalitarian countries, then *maybe* I will, but even then they usually just wave me by.It depends on the department. Police in my suburb aren't super good at solving crimes, but they aren't a threat at all so I don't feel uncomfortable. In the city, I do feel uncomfortable because there are a lot of bad cops there.
www.google.com/search?q=atlanta+police+reputationI work at a coffee shop, and early in the morning there are a lot of police getting their morning coffees. I donāt mind this, but sometimes they bring their guns with them and I donāt mean pistols, I mean assault rifles. (I live in South Africa, where this is a common weapon for police and security forces)
When I see those big guns, I get really really uncomfortable, as I am a pacifist and I just wait anxiously for them to finally leaveYes. Even though I am aware that I have nothing to hide or be afraid of, I just don't like cops keeping an eye on me or questioning me. I still do legal yet sometimes "Suspicious" things such as photography of trains, I do have an explanation and answers prepared. Cops and transit employees suspect I'm planning a terrorist attack or something by filming the transit system. I was demanded to show cops the videos I recorded.
I'm a little more careful when police are around. It's easy to accidentally do something illegal. But police are human too. We currently have a couple in the family, and have had others previously.
Not really, except in traffic. Everyone in the DMV area speeds, so when I moved back down south my lead foot did not leave. I have to take extra effort to obey the lower speed limits in the south. Even if I am following the speed limit perfectly, when I see a cop I automatically tap the brake to slow down, thinking I'm going faster than I actually am. Anywhere else I usually seek them out to thank them for their service, buy them food or just chit chat if they do not look busy.
Hell yea. Been a good boy my whole life but Iāve still had police harass me and treat me like shit for no reason. Iām a corny ass white boy who follows the law. Why the fuck are you fucking faggot fucks fucking with me? I canāt stand police.
it depends what the circumstance is,
if i jus stole from a store and have illegal goods in my pocket, then yes id be nervous,
or if i had my picture on the news for rape or something, id also be nervous,
but usually i jus see them walking through the street with no crime on my hands, so im calmDefinitely. Cops are always on the lookout 2 harass someone. It doesn't matter if you haven't done anything wrong. They will look for reasons. The pigs like to say if you haven't done anything illegal you have nothing to worry about from cops. That's been proven untrue time and time again. People who are completely innocent have the most to fear from badge fags..
Uh, it depends.
Like a couple weeks ago, I was sitting in a train, and suddenly like 5 police officers walked inside looking for some pickpocket. That is far more uncomfortable than e. g. checking into a train station and police being there or police just on the street.
