It's just silly to me.

That isn't what financial domination really is, or what it's supposed to be. Those people don't truly understand BDSM.

A good Dominant cares about the well-being of the submissive. The Dominant is supposed to protect the submissive, and use their dominance not to simply use the submissive for their own pleasure/gain but also to enforce rules and boundaries designed to help the submissive to better themselves.

Originally then financial domination was about helping the submissive to save money. To prevent them from wasting money, say if the submissive has a spending problem. Submissives tend to do best when under the authority of a responsible dominant.

These people however tend to be sociopaths from what I've seen. They'll talk about "wallet rape", "destroying" the submissive, breaking them down, putting them into debt, ruining their life even. That's not what a real Dom/Domme does.

I saw an article once where a so called "findomme" played with a rich married guy, took thousands from him, blackmailed him him into throwing his wedding ring down the toilet for the lols. Now this married guy was obviously a piece of shit for going behind his wifes back, but that woman also took part in that and fucked with their marriage for fun with no guilt while she profits from it. That's sociopathic.

Many others have spoken about how they tried to stop but the findomme blackmailed them into carrying on. They had all kinds of financial trouble as a result. Again, the complete opposite of what financial domination is supposed to be.

The men who do this tend to have huge problems. It's an addiction to them, pretty much the same as any other. Encouraging it further and even forcing them to carry on is like a casino forcing a gambling addict to carry on gambling even though his life is falling apart as a result. It's like a drug dealer getting somebody hooked on heroin in order to keep profiting fron their addiction.

That's why I'd say yes, a lot of the time it does cross the ethical line. 100%. Maybe it doesn't always happen in the way I just described but it happens that way in more cases than not. Justifying it by saying that it's consensual is a cop-out.

From what I've read of such scenarios, many of the people in them are essentially demonstrating that they lack the mental capacity to be in charge of their own affairs. They are addicted to a thrill they get by, basically, ruining their own lives (and that of their dependents if they have any).

When does a fetish become a mental illness? When it screws up your life, substantially. People who drive themselves into bankruptcy over their fetish need help, and their illness is being exploited here for gain.

Is it possible to have such a relationship be ethical? I'd say yes, but it almost requires the findom to act as a prudent fiduciary and prevent overpayment, (or redirect overpayment back to the client).

Findom is usually wrong because the dominant doesn't know if the slave is ok or have some kind of mental illness. For it to be right, they both should meet face to face or a least have regular conversations trough webcam so the Domme can check how the submissive is doing.
Most of the time, dommes, encourage men to send them all the money they've got. They don't care if they end broke... Actually they encourage them to empty their wallet or even go into debt. That is not right. They exploit the slave's lack of self control, and his addiction...
So in many occasions findom is like drug dealing... Findom dommes would say something like "I'm just giving losers what they want"... and drug dealers would say the same "I'm not forcing anybody to buy my drugs". But they are doing harm anyways.

That said, findom itself is not wrong. I don't think it is. But it's usually done in the wrong way, maybe because of ignorance, because the dominant doesn't care, or maybe the dominant starts as a good person but becomes greedy. It's a practice that can make both parties lose their control.

I'm not opppsed to it. To me most relationships seem like a mild form of findom where stability and financial support are offered to balance a relationship.

Where I have a problem with it is how it's used to make the naive masses lose everything to the point of becoming trash depending on charity to survive.
