On its website, Shinola Hotel says it is a “luxury” hotel. Jackson’s attorney, Jon Marko, provided CNN with a copy of Jackson’s resume, which details consistent employment, including previous roles as a “Front Desk Agent” at Detroit’s Marriott Westin Book Cadillac and David Whitney Hotel, which use the words luxury and luxurious to describe their respective hotels. “Mr. Jackson had applied for a job that he was eminently qualified for,” Marko, a civil rights attorney, told CNN. However, Shinola Hotel did not offer Jackson an interview.

First I would say that Mr Jackson's objective clearly was to sue rather than get a job.

Second I'd note with recruitment agencies and HR who get interviews and who doesn't has become very random because recruitment agencies & HR don't actually know what a job requires but sadly think they do.

As an example a former boss wanted me to work for him again. He asked for my CV so he could base the job spec on it. So I was eminently qualified. The job was advertised and I put my CV in. Nothing back.

It was advertised again. In the intervening time I had learnt more about HR. The HR chick had thought 'Solutions Architect' sounded better than 'Technical Architect' without knowing the difference. I made a global change from the later to the former and clicked send. I had a phone call in less than 2 minutes.

I wouldn't say that Mr Jackson wasn't discriminated against. I just don't think the vapid vacuity of HR chicks, and their inability to recognize that in themselves, should be under estimated.

I don't see how anything could be inferred from a name like Dwight Jackson. It might be inferred that Jebrowski was from a minority group. So maybe the HR chick was positively discriminating in favor of a minority group and assumed Dwight Jackson was a white anglo-saxon male.

It is most plausible he didn't get an interview cause he seemed white.

You are right - I hate HR chicks. They are worse than prostitutes because prostitutes don't ruin lives but HR chicks do.

I don't think this proves anything tho this dosent prove his name is the problem. How long ago did he first apply? Maybe they just need more people now than when he last applied. How many fallow up calls did he do before? How many applicants did they have?

What? Dwight better hope the hotel doesn't have black employees with so called names that take the stand for a defense. Because the jury will just see this as a ploy to get money and he won't get nada.
