Mossberg Shockwave- Viable or Worthless?

For those of you that don't know, Mossberg danced around legalities to make a 590 as small as it can legally be without a tax stamp or any other nonsense like that. They avoided the label as a shotgun which would make it an NFA item as a SBS by never having a stock on it, the definition of shotgun is predicated on it being able to be fired from the shoulder, since there's never a shock on it, it isn't a shotgun. It's not a pistol, where it would be illegal if it was since smooth bore handguns are illegal, because it's meant to be fired two handed, and it's not a rifle because it has a smooth bore which keeps it from being an NFA item as an SBR, and it's not an AOW because it's above the 26" minimum length, so legally, it's simply classified as a "firearm". Now that all of that stuff is out of the way, I see it as viable, but it's an expert's gun and just about any reliable modern gun is more practical than this for home defense and hunting. However, since it is nice and small, it can be an OK truck gun, but I'd much rather use a handgun or an AR pistol with a 7.5" barrel in 300 Blackout. The best part about it for me is how it's a huge middle finger to the NFA and their dumb laws. I believe that worthless is being too hard on it, but saying it's one of the better choices for anything, really, to me is an overstatement. What's your take on the Mossberg Shockwave?
