What are some countries that you would never set foot on?

I have a conversation with someone here and he opened up a good point which is:
Some people don't go to a specific location due to the political regime. Not that it's unsafe, but you strongly disagree with it's morality.
I never thought that much about the leader of the country when I visit but more what the country actually has to offer since leaders and systems come and go.
Even saudi, if it was safer and more easy for women to go to, I am definitely interested to see.
Basically I am curious to go anywhere really as long as it isn't life threatening.

All the East/SE Asian countries. I hate the rude, racistass people and their backwards customs and food, even more now after the Coronavirus. Why go to a place where I'm not welcome?

I also have no interest in visiting most of the Pacific Islands simply because their boring. And I also no longer have interest in Central and Western Africa. Boring and hostile locals.
And I probably won't visit South Asia either because of hygiene reasons.
And also countries that like Maldives, Comoros, Kuwait and Qatar because they're boring and have religious fanatics.

But like YOU, Saudi I could actually visit if they were more civilized and open to outsiders, because the country is actually really interesting.
I'm also not sure if I want to visit Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Palestine. I get a bad vibe from them.

Normally if I don't wanna visit a country it's because it's boring or has rude people.

There are also a lot of countries I want to visit, but not right now because they're too dangerous.
I don't really care about a country's government or politics, as long as they're not hostile towards American tourists.

Like Syrian government was pretty anti American, but as long as you weren't there to harass the regime, they wouldn't bother you as an American tourist.

Pakistan because that country is a mess and quite dangerous as ethnic and religious tensions between groups there are among the highest in the world.
North Korea because again, dangerous, one toe out of line and you'll never be heard from again, and also an appalling regime. I won't be spending money in a country so desperate to appear flawless to the outside world while being so rotten on the inside. I despise falseness.
Not setting foot in either Iran, Iraq or Afghanistan. Incredibly unstable states, Taliban terrorists running around, religious tyrants in office, (the Ayatollah) draconian laws and sharia. Though as Jim said, should that disgusting current model of rule known as the Islamic Republic be overthrown and the rightful monarchy restored I might consider visiting.

China is agreeable enough simply for tourism under normal circumstances. But as it is now they might have purposefully allowed the Corona virus to spread to contend with the US. They're also an incredibly propaganda-based regime, communists and anti-westerners who constantly tries to shift the geopolitics in their favor.

All in all, I'm staying in the West for the time being. As far east as I care to go is Israel for a visit to Jerusalem.

There isn’t a country I would not want to go to. Sure, some are of less interest to me than others, but if I had the choice and thé means, I would like to experience country on earth.

Political leanings does little to impact my interest to visit a place. Thé culture and history is what more attracts me more. I hold a very strong interest to visit Iran because of it’s rich history and culture. I also know several Iranians and found them to be delightful people - friendly, fun and often deep thinkers. The political unrest there surely deters me from jumping on a plane there tomorrow, in concern of personal safety, but I were guaranteed safety, I would be there in a heartbeat.

There are certainly countries that I wouldn't go to right NOW, but who's to say that 30 years from now those places won't have changed to become safer/more easily accessible to people like me?

Iran is the number one global sponsor of terrorism, and is actively engaged in exporting its revolutionary Islamist model. The Saudis, on the other hand, act as a moderating force upon their radical population. I don't think enough people in the West 'get' Saudi Arabia - the regime isn't fundamentalist and conservative because it's oppressing its people - that is the model that the people demand from their government.

Iran, on the other hand, under the present regime lacks this legitimacy. The people there remember better times, and want to see the back of the regime. That is currently not the case in Saudi Arabia.

It's more the states that have an issue with it because it's not doing what it wants.
People are cool with saudi now because they have an understanding with the states, they are cooperating.

Well, yeah, some people will no doubt support the present regime, generally because they do OK out of the situation. But the riots that they have been having recently indicate that all is not well there.

But, in answer to your original question, I wouldn't visit the IRI, ever. I would have no confidence that I might not get locked up there, and used as a bargaining chip, for some dispute they have with my government, as has happened with a number of people, from a variety of countries, recently. That doesn't seem to happen in Saudi Arabia (which is also not near the top of my list of countries to visit, either).

Yea I totally understand the risk you are right with that.
It does happen in saudi you just might not have heard of it. House keepers get executed there without even giving notice to their families nor embassies.
Not all riots are what they seem, there is a lot of false propaganda and game playing in politics.
We had riots and an uprising in my country and it was totally initiated by foreign forces. And people like sheep believe it all.
And even if some people were rioting, a vast majority stayed home and is against it.

I'd actually argue that Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar are sponsors of terrorism as opposed to Iran. Iran has a history of fighting a number of designated terrorist groups. There are no designated Iranian terrorist groups, except IRCG which some consider terroriet, but it has done nothing terrorist except protect Iran's interest, and the allies of Iran from Israel. Saudi Arabia and it's band of Arabic neighbors have funded the arab spring which created civil wars throughout the arab world, and then continued to back groups that were later designated as terrorist groups. Not to mention Al-Qaeda, Caucasus Emirate and the Taliban, which are directly a product of Saudi Arabia. I'd also argue the saudi military is a terrorist group itself, for the massacre and humanitarian crisis they've done in Yemen.

In Iran, however, a clerical dictatorship imposes its will on people who have demonstrated via recent and serious protests, that they no longer regard the regime as legitimate, and that they want an end to the regime.

This sort of thing has simply not been happening in Saudi Arabia. Does it mean that everybody who lives there is happy there? Obviously not, no. Nahh. I'd actually ask you for sources to provide me wrong, that is, besides state department notices and articles from "credible" sources like RFE. I remain on the same page. Iran supports Hezbollah, the Houthis, the PMU. Mostly freedom fighters with no crazy ideology to abide by. Saudi Arabia has funded, and definitely (I can't put up a fact on this, but it's common sense) still funds designated terorrist groups that have claimed more innocent lives than Iran, and it's proxies, who mainly fight to protect local interests and fight globalism. I agree, Iran is at some points more strict, but if you go, you will not encounter any problems if you follow the laws. Iran has some of the most hospitable people, humble and welcoming, while the average Joe in Saudi Arabia is a prick who doesn't know what to do with their money.

For me, it would be Saudi Arabia, or UAE from the middle east. They just love to show off the money and the big buildings and what else not, except their arabic heritage. I'd like to experience arabic heritage, but i'd go to Oman for that. I'd also never go to Monaco, Singapore, Sudan, Somalia, South Africa, Australia, Honduras and other places like that, because I feel thay have nothing significant to offer, or are potentially dangerous to visit. But my reasons would be matters of personal safety, not the moral stances of their leaders.

I wouldn't mind visiting the US, even though I consider it one the most politically bankrupt of the developed nations.
But their crooked politics don't affect me much as a tourist, so I don't mind.

Some other places, such as Middle East and East Asia (China, Singapore), have crooked politics which could affect my own freedom and safety during my stay there, so I would definitely reconsider visiting those places.

I guess you can say I'm weak for being adapted to North American living conditions - I wouldn't feel comfortable in a third world country where the roads are bumpy and the food is unclean and the streets are smelly - I went to Taiwan for a short one week trip years ago and it was the most hellish vacation I've ever been on second to maybe my 21 hour ride to Australia when I used to have a phobia of airplanes. I slowly got used to airplanes by riding them over and over again but there is never a single time where I am on one and I don't have at least one anxiety issue or break down from fear and terror cause I'm afraid of airplanes.

Well, it depends whether or not I’d agree with that happening. Any self-respecting natron would retaliate if attacked. Hypothetically, if the Lebanese government and/or hezbollah decide to randomly launch 1000 missiles daily, surely Israel should strike back. But that’s a hypothetical. Would be a bit ridiculous to expect Israel not doing anything.

In 1982, I honestly don’t really keep up to date with what triggered the war. I know the PLO went towards Lebanon and some attacks were happening on both side of the border.

Definitely North Korea, to visit you have to be escorted by someone who works for the government everywhere. There is essentially no freedom to act as you choose while visiting. England. I find British accents highly irritating. In general I wouldn't want to go to west Europe because I'm not too fond of the people. Also, wouldn't want to go to North Korea (need I explain why?) And China, because Communism and I can't stand to see the mistreatment of innocent people (Uighurs and poorer Chinese people in general.) Japan, because when I was little I read a horror story about Japan and I just wouldn't go there for old time's sake. That's about it.

@Caramel_creme Most of the islands are totally fine. A lot of them have this horribly thick jungle that will eat you up, but that's not my main concern. There are a few islands that are so remote and backwater that they have these primitive tribal groups that the Malaysian government simply refuses to deal with. MANY of those tribes have lasted this long by being super unpleasant to outsiders. It's simply not worth the hassle, and they get to score points with the human rights activists by claiming that they leave the tribes undisturbed to protect culture.
