What is woke, and why is it so annoying?

I find 'wokeness' irritating for absolutely no reason. I'm not sure if it's the hypocrisy of the liberal elite or the preposterousness of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle telling other people to get over white privilege...

but it's so frickin annoying.

I call myself an "old school liberal" these days because i think a lot of the time people put too much focus on a word and not the context of what the person is saying. e. g. what is more acceptable... "i went into a bar last night and it was full of benders, i had the best time of my life! amazing!" ... or "i think all LGBTQ+ people should be shot"

context is everything but nothing to a lot of people, it feels to me he left has gone so far its lost a lot of its core values of freedom of speech and seems more right wing to me. Remember when we would say "i dont agree with you but i will fight for your right to say it!" ... now its more like "i dont agree with you so i will destroy you and you will never work again"

it's just another term hijacked by idiots. Every great movement is hijacked. Woke used to mean knowing the truth of this world, the real truth, the conspiracies, the master / slave dynamic that still rules us to this day, the fallacy of government, police, military, the higher self, the true nature of this world.

Now it means regurgitating leftist talking points and having ZERO critical thinking ability. Basically, it means subscribing to what is currently the most popular or trendy opinion.

I can definitely relate. I see it all the time, and it seems to be from people who are terrified of getting called racist, even if they did nothing to deserve it. "Woke" is the acceptance that inequality does exist and that some people benefit from it. That by participating in it without doing anything to change it, you are complicit in it and thus partly to blame for it.

It's annoying because no one likes to be told they're doing something wrong, even if it's true.
