Some criticisms against BLM is legitimate. For example, the police kill other races just as much. And black people kill each other much more than other races kill each other. BLM doesn't seem to address those two things.

But the riots and violence aren't the protesters. They just take advantage of the protest. So it's not true to say the BLM is rioting or looting.

But the much bigger issue is police violence on everybody, no matter the race. It's wrong to focus on the inadequacies of the BLM movement and ignore the police murder rate in this country against everybody. It's taking the eyes off the ball, the real issue, the biggest harm. You are making the same mistake the BLM is making.

Basically, the BLM movement has decided it only doesn't like non black police killing black people. It's a very narrow and twisted take of the police violence situation. But the anti-BLM people have decided they only don't like it when the black people are being selfish and view the world in a twisted way. But the anti BLM people don't care about the police violence against everybody. The BLM movement might be narrow and twisted, but at least it's trying to fight against a real problem--unjustified police killing. Although they only seem to care about unjustified police killing against black people. But that's more than what a lot of people can say. Instead of seeing the issue that the BLM is inadvertently pointing out--police violence against everyone, the anti BLM people are just attacking the BLM people for being narrow. They might be narrow, but at least they are addressing a sliver of the problem. You might not be narrow and see the whole picture, but you are just attacking the victim for being narrow and not trying to correct the perpetrators--the police. So the anti BLM is just throwing fuel on the fire and making things worse as well.

@AllThatSweetJazz During the Boston Marathon bombing, before they found the suspects, they saw a vehicle slightly similar to the suspects' vehicle. But it was a different color, different make, and the two people sitting in it were two Asian women. And it was in broad day light. But the police still decided to rain bullets on the vehicle. A bullet hit one of the women in the neck, almost killing her.

A 19 year old white male fell off a bridge above a highway and was lying on the highway unconscious. People called the cops. The cops came. Asked him to get up. He didn't because he was unconscious. The cop tased him more than 10 times. Then called the ambulance. There's a video taped interview of the police officer at the scene, he said he tased him because he was running into traffic while shouting "kill the police! kill the police". Then the doctors at the hospital was on video saying he came in unconscious, had a bad concussion, broke his back in several places, and had a broken foot. They had to delay surgery on his back because of the taser wound inflicted by the police.

There's a video of a white man walking with headphones on on a sidewalk. The police asked him to stop. He didn't seem to hear it because he just kept walking. The police fired several bullets into his back, killing him.

And there's many many many more examples.

I think that the killing or attempted killing or harming of innocent people or people who don't deserve it and then covering it up is wrong. And I don't know what would make someone say that that isn't a problem. And yes, I think it's wrong when it happens to a black person too. It isn't a problem because it's been happening to other people, not to oneself?

Actually it is BLM rioting and destroying buildings, they had a scheduled “rally that day in Linn park in Birmingham Alabama.

They destroyed the city, looted the sciences center (science museum for kids) looted black owned businesses, looted medical facilities and burned buildings. Don’t say they didn’t because they did, they burned American flags in the streets, you can hear them chanting in the video, holding BLM signs, and “protesting”. The good news is that it’s not really happening here -- at least not from the cops.

What would make it not a problem is that it’s not what’s happening here. We can address the cases you listed, it’s not like it never happens and guess what, we do. People do address those things and that’s why it’s not a problem: Because those examples you listed are *not* examples comparable to what’s happening now. Look at the most recent example (unless there's been a fresh one in the last few days) of a shooting and subsequent riot – a guy gets shot while screaming and charging with a knife at a cop – there should be nothing to complain about with regard to the cop’s response, let alone to protest or riot over. The reality is that the majority of the people that the BLM crowd bestow with sainthood and paint murals for are justified homicides, that’s why it’s not a problem. Why don’t they make their first choice of example one of the ones you listed (assuming they’re real)? Because they don’t give a damn, it’s not about justice or police brutality. It’s about racial collectivism. That’s why they don’t care about police brutality – they care about police acting (brutal or not) against *them* and their ideology. And that in turn is why they will celebrate when the cops act unjustly against their opposition.

anybody who commits unjustified violence is in the wrong, no matter what race they belong to, or what movement they belong to, that includes property destruction. If and when BLM commits acts of violence, even if it's just property destruction, it's unjustified and it's wrong.

I can also show you many clips of police physically assaulting people during the protests, not just black people, and not just protesters, and not just people causing problems. A white girl was physically thrown into the ground by a cop so hard that she had a seizure immediately afterwards, it's on video. All she did was stand there with her phone out. There are countless tapes of cops just beating up people for no reason, some of them are medics, some are just food delivery people passing by, some are TV reporters standing in front of a camera with a mic in hand, not doing anything disruptive.

Whenever you get a mass movement, it's hard to control what everyone who decides to join the movement does. If some of them decide to become violent or destructive, that is wrong. However, that doesn't mean everyone who is in the movement agrees with their behavior. You could say the same about the police. Just because some of them kill people for no reason, doesn't mean all policemen do. However, the pervasive culture of policing is that a policeman has to protect a fellow officer who did something wrong, otherwise you get in massive trouble for being a "snitch" or "disloyal", and have your career ruined. It has happened to some policemen.

The question is, is violent or destructive behavior by some people who join the BLM movement a justifiable reason to ignore police lawlessness, brutality, killing, and corruption that has been going on for a long time in this country?

Like I said, the BLM movement has massive flaws. But at least part of the reason it has come to this is because police misbehavior has been ignored by the people with a voice in this country for as long as the problem has existed.

And after all that I’m sure there are legitimate instances of the cops being shitty, then we can address those individually but to act like those instances are even remotely comparable to everything else is very wrong.

The same is true for people with “press” on their helmet – and even people who are actually are press do not get to just stand their even if they’re not being “disruptive”, if you refuse to move then you are being disruptive. And yeah truly innocent people can get swept up in all this, that’s not on the cops. If there were no rioters then the cops could stay home.

I mean, it’s shifting attention away from the few act of legitimate wrong doing by the cops by creating opposition to BLM because of their violence.
