Why do old people like to make young people feel bad about themselves?

Im the youngest at my work by a lot. Most my co workers are either in there mid 40s or ready to retire.

I got this job at the factory as they had another young woman about the same age as me work ther but unfortunately took the piss. She'd only turn up when she wanted, didn't want to do anything, was spoilt and when they'd confront her about her behaviour she would say she was being bullied so I've been told about her by others.

I hate when young people behave like this because it gives young people in Britain a bad reputation and companies assume were lazy and unreliable so don't bother hiring young British people and instead hire people from abroad, desperate for work and take advantage of them lowering the standard of treatment for others in the company too.

I used to work in the event industry but for obvious reasons i got made redundant in March. I started my new job 2 weeks ago and it's hard but i keep my head down and learn as much as i can. Im getting really good now. I work im a factory boxing packaging for retail products.

They a want to know my business like. What i studied at college, what past jobs i had, if i have a boyfriend etc. When i told them i was technically a art school drope out even though i left to get apprenticeship at a furniture company but that's another story and my 2 years at college still counted as a two art and design qualifications. They kept saying "what a waste" when college is free in the UK, i dropped out to make money in the real world and it was a BTEC. You can get BTEC qualifications behind bars which one woman actually said.

They keep telling me im wasting my life working in a factory and i should get a career but a job is a job and im dyslexic it's not like i can easily become a doctor over night it's really not that easy for most working class people to become successful especially if they have learning disabilities.

Id rather go to work, earn my money and then go home and enjoy myself instead of having a career. I work to live not live to work. Im no slave to money, one day ill die and id rather say id had a good life spending it with my family and having fun than "i had a great career and lots of money but no time to spend it because i was busy chasing it"

They all brag but their grandchildren around my age are studying law at uni and stuff and that i should be the same.

I was also painting houses with my dad for a bit and the lady othered me a cuppa and i said no thanks because last time she but the milk in first and she was all like. You young people don't like tea all you do is drink fizzy pop and energy drinks and you'll get diabetes from it one day. Mostly only drink water and sugar free pop. What is it with these old people always rushing the worst assumptions about us young people. Like whatever Debbie enjoy your free TV, bus pass and heating and leave me

I try to treat people equally regardless of age.

Now if they act immature, that's a bit different. I'll treat them with respect but they are being paid to do a job. I can't do my job and theirs so they can slide by. It's not fair to me or everyone else.

They don't in my experience.
But then I'm as old as they are in everyway beyond the date on my birth certificate

In the UK most the old people retire at 60 and walked into their jobs and careers straight out of school. They get a free bus pass, heating and TV form the government and most have decent pensions too and they still moan and im not talking about war time people, im talking about the baby boomers who were born after the war.

My generation have to prove are self to get a job these days because the older generation voted for us to be in the EU meaning people from abroad can get work over here too. Most these people from abroad will work long hours, for shit pay and it lowers the standards of treatment workers get because we know its compete with the desperate for work immigrants who will work for pea nuts or will replace you with one.

I'll be lucky if i retire at 60 because most my money is going to pay for the older generations and some even still chose to work well into the day they die by choice and are taking jobs from young people.

Also house prices were a lot cheaper back than too and im lucky if i can afford a garden shed. if young people want to move out they have no choice but to spend all their savings on rent meaning they'll probably never be able to afford a house.
