Istanbul because it is no longer the city that was formerly named Constantinople. That was populated by an entirely different people.
In fact, the origin of the word Istanbul is also in Greek. It is the common form of the word "Stanpolis" . In the Ottoman Empire, the city's name was used as "Konstantiyye", unchanged. However, the people call the city "Istanbul". Because the name "constantinople" reminds them of the Greek rule. After the proclamation of the Republic, the name of the city was changed to "Istanbul". However, the origin of the word Istanbul is actually in Greek.
The city's also has Ottoman names such as "Dersaadet". But this name was preferred instead of them.
Constantinople but after a few hundred years of occupation by the Turks this once glorious city and jewel of Eastern Europe was a sithole when we conquered the Turks.
