Does anyone else find the US national anthem to be annoying?

The tune for the national anthem was taken from a old British drinking song from an old opera called, "Anacreon in Heaven." It had been around long before Francis Scott Key wrote his poem. And with it's very high top notes, it is very hard to sing!
As a pianist, I once played a piece by Louis Moreau Gotteschalk, an American composer (and tireless womanizer) who lived during the Civil War era. The piece was called "L'Union," or, "The Union" (being from New Orleans, Gotteschalk was comfortable using French titles). It was a medley of various patriotic tunes of the day, including "Hail Columbia," and the "Star Spangled Banner."
What was interesting was that the tune of the "Star Spangled Banner" goes a little differently in Gotteschalk's version. It's not exactly like the song we all learned in grammar school. It should be remembered that Gotteschalk, who lived in the mid to late 19th Century, knew a few things that we do not. He was closer in time to the composing of the anthem, and maybe his version is much closer to the original than the one we know.

I have mixed feelings about it, I don’t think it’s the best song (the Russian national anthem is way better muscly ). But the message is good, Franklin Scott key wrote the song after witnessing a battle between the British and Americans I. The war of 1812 where it looked like we were getting our ass kick and yet there was our flag still flying and our boys still fighting and after a night of hell they were still fighting and we won the battle, so the idea is we as Americans will keep fighting for life liberty and the pursuit of happiness regardless of the consequences it’s a story of bravery and endurance. So because of the story behind it I like the song.

America the Beautiful would have been a better choice. I only find it annoying when singers at sports events tamper with it to make a name for themselves.

For many years, I've wished they would change the national anthem to something easier to sing, and more representative of America.. The song I would prefer, is America the Beautiful.
