I'm a lesbian and there are to many homophobic people around me why are people still homophobic?

I'll tell you why so many people hate the "LGBTQ Community." It's because you have these high profile LGBTQ people who don't seem to want to accept TOLERANCE and demand APPROVAL instead. There is a vast difference between tolerance and approval. You can be TOLERANT of that sexual behavior and not APPROVE of it at the same time. But if you are that way -- tolerant but not approving -- you are viciously attacked, called names and ridiculed. And by the way a "phobia" is a fear. People who hate homosexuality don't fear it THEY HATE IT. So even that word is a form of aggressive attack against anyone who doesn't approve of homosexuality to try to imply that they somehow fear it. Who WOULDN'T hate people who disrespect them and their views like that?

It's the difference between having a right to engage in any sexual behavior you want AND TRYING TO FORCE PEOPLE TO THINK THE WAY YOU WANT THEM TO WHEN THEY DON'T APPROVE OF YOUR LIFESTYLE. It's this militant in-your-face "think the way we tell you to think or we will attack and humiliate you" attitude from LGBTQ people THAT JUSTIFIABLY PISSES PEOPLE OFF.

You have a right to tolerance, BUT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO APPROVAL. What I approve or don't approve of is MY BUSINESS, not yours. You don't get to decide that for me. If you don't respect my opinion and views, don't expect any respect from me.

And I'll tell you another thing that pisses people off. I don't want to hear about your sexual life unless I ask you to tell me. I don't want to hear about homosexual sexual behavior, it disgusts me. I don't talk about my sexual exploits with someone unless they ask me about it. I am sick and tired of these "gay parades" and public displays of disgusting homosexual sexual behavior WHICH IS PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO OFFEND PEOPLE. Leave me alone with that and KEEP IT TO YOURSELF IN PRIVATE. Is that too much to ask?

I'm fine with any kind of sexual behavior that consenting adults want to engage in. It's fine with me. That's your business not mine. Stop trying to MAKE it my business, I don't give a rats ass what you do in private. Just don't expect me to approve of it, and STFU about it! THAT's what pisses people off. The "LGBTQ community" is responsible for the hatred it brings on itself. THEY ARE THE AGGRESSORS AND PEOPLE WHO DON'T APPROVE ARE THE VICTIMS, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

It depends on what we're calling homophobia and what the culture is like where you live. There are certainly a small minority of hateful people who actively care about homosexuality and will demonize you for being Lesbian. But there are a lot more people who couldn't care less who you love, and are just straight up resentful of the way LGBTQ people act towards others in every day life. Especially the trans and Gay men part. Genuine hatred is different from non-acceptance, and therefore the source is different too.

There's a really great Key and Peele sketch where Key is a flamboyant, obnoxious, openly gay man working an office. He's making all these lewd, vulgar, and generally distasteful and obnoxious comments through out the day. Eventually, Peele's character can't take it anymore and asks Key to stop (not even calling him any names, he just asks him to stop making everything sexual). Key responds by indignantly calling Peele and homophobe and saying how Peele is oppressing and repressing him. Just after Key finishes his rant, Peele's boyfriend/husband walks in and they give each other a kiss and walk out of the office. The camera focuses on Key's face as he says "Ohhhh I get it. I'm not persecuted, I'm just an asshole..."

It’s really complicated, some of it is religious beliefs but that would really be much more narrow than people think, few religions actually preach it. The Catholic Church for instance preaches tolerance if if they don’t believe in marriage between two people of the opposite sex. So that leaves a few other extremists out there.
I believe a lot of it comes from fear, not as much as being afraid of being hit on by the same sex but they probably have fear of someone who is so different from them. I also think a good amount of the time they were raised that way.
Usually people who are homophobic have more than one bigotry, but not not necessarily. For instance I was romantically involved with someone who was had a gay friend and an Islamic friend (a younger white guy) I myself am Mexican Indian, and after we stop being involved I found some REALLY disturbing racist material against Blacks on his Instagram. So my point is these are all theories but I have not done the research to back it up🤷🏽‍♂️

Well you need to elaborate a bit more. Are you talking about the policies of some theocracies that will support homosexuality between men, or at least turn a blind eye, but punish women severely? That you being a lesbian isn't celebrated? Are there some guys who want to sleep with you and get frustrated because because of their dangly bits?

Are there people actually running in fear from you and your gayness like it's a plague of locusts? What kind of homophobia do you face?

I know a girl who came out in Utah in a rural area, and her biggest frustration was that no one seemed to care. So I really am curious if this is in the US if it's mostly a family/interpersonal relationship thing, or something more sinister.

Because we like society norms to be set to... normal. There is no better way of putting it. Any letter from LGBT is a list of disorders which is neglected by science, it's like our society just gave up and said, "okay go your way". Seriously, it's like telling a man who sees any round abject as an onion that it is in fact an onion and he should keep believing so!

Also, other people who don't give you a reason and just say "fuck you" are just frustrated people. They are frustrated of you because majority of LGBT likes to flash, rub in or sometimes even force their beliefs on societies fine straight, well raised people. Forcing the people to like what they don't believe is right. It also influences kids and teens too, they are stupid up until 21+ and unfit to make their own decisions but LGBT just ruins the whole youth, it's disguising!

Repetition drives people to dislike you. You know those anti drug bs campaigns, clubs, class and ads we had to overcome in elementary up till high school? sometimes they are so repetitive that it made people WANT to do drugs to make a "stfu" statement.

That's how racism is flaring up in the United States, BLM rubs in that black people are the only ones who matter and how they are superior. "Black lives matter" where are the other lives? I only see black. Black power! Black supremacy! Black pride! But if us white folks replaced black with white then it's not okay? not okay to be white? That's some racist shit! "I'm better than the blacks!" then "Stupid white people" and it's a swing that does on and on.

I really don't get it either gay people aren't effecting anyone elses life so why should it bother so many people. When I see a gay couple all I see is a couple who are in love and are just trying to get on with everyday life.

Some people say it's because they are annoying and in your face about there sexuality and make it there whole personality but I think them types of people would still be just as annoying if they were straight and would probably cling on to some other minority or social group for attention. You can't kill an idea. The only way to beat bad ideas are with better ideas. And it's not as simple as, "I have the right idea, why can't you just accept that".

You really have to meet people where they are. Like a lot of what is deemed homophobic isn't actually homophobic and that's really part of the problem.

You'll never get rid of it entirely, but you can cut it down a lot if you simply don't demonize people and call them homophobic when they're not or misappropriate actions/ideas as homophobic when they're not.

Depends on how you have been brought up, I use to hate lesbians and gay until my sister come out as one my entire family cut her off but she is my sister I loved her and just wanted to support her then I realised I shouldn't care how others live their lives being gay bi lesbian don't matter all matter is your heart.

I think it's the order generation's View on homosexuality and religion it's seen as a sin my family is Christian and their hatred at the time came from that.

Someone might not agree with your lifestyle, but that doesn’t make them homophobic.
