Strange rules at universities in Singapore?

I'm going to study in Singapore and from what I've heard, many rules are much tougher there than in Western countries.
I also heard that there are some strange rules at university, like chewing gums are not allowed, people are not allowed to kiss and hold hands on the campus and you always have to greet your professors with a bow. I'd like to know if any of those are true, because the guy who told me this was kind of weird, so I don't really know whether to believe him or not :D

Probably so from what I heard. And I say those are good rules to follow because people are hypersexualized today. Though I don't see anything wrong with holding hands. Kissing unless a peck can cause a problem. In Asian cultures that is often what you will hear and even private universities and colleges in most places. In Japan, I know you definitely have to follow those rules in middle and high school in most places. Their strict but handled wrong.

I don't know, I don't think there's anything wrong with kissing in public, so this seems very strict to me.
There's another rumour I heard about actually. I heard that at university they do regular photo shoots where you have to take part. And all the girls have to take off their shoes and socks for this for some reason. Have you ever heard about this?

It's not about what you think is right or wrong. That is their rules, and you got to follow the rules. You got to also understand people get highly sexual at those ages and that's why they don't want that around. Because once somebody gets sexual, once somebody do something, it's not only going to affect that student, it's going to affect everybody else. Never heard that they had to take off their socks and shoes. But one thing I do got to say and kind of just be extremely careful because you got a lot of shady stuff going on.

Yeah, I heard about that weird photo shoot and read about it here on gag. I don't know if it's just a made up story of course.

You need to be extremely careful because in those places they be sexually harrassing girls there. In some places they ha e that stuff.

I don't think that it's the chewing of gum that's not allowed, but it's that you can't spit it on the sidewalk like pigs in the West do. You also can't litter or spray graffiti. If you get caught, they'll beat the shit out of you, and rightfully so.

I would love to visit Singapore, but I know it's a very strict place. I lived in Thailand, and you won't find any garbage or graffiti in the Bangkok subway. Only the West tolerates shit like that. I felt safer in the streets of Bangkok at night, than I ever would in a major city in the West during the daytime.

You just have to be smart when you get to Singapore. I've heard that before your plane lands, the flight attendants will come around and collect your chewing gum. This is only because the airline company is looking out for you.
I don't know if they'd beat you for chewing gum, but there's a very famous case where the son of an influential American politician was canned in public for spray painting graffiti. His father tried to use his influence to stop it, but the Singaporean government told him to fuck off.
I wouldn't hesitate to go to Singapore at all, because it's just not all that hard to follow the rules. Do NOT get caught stealing, littering, or possessing drugs.

I've never heard about that, but when I was in Thailand I never once seen any socks in two years. And the shoes are just flip flops.

I just checked, and it's 1:02 PM in Singapore, and it's 90 degrees. But with the humidity, it feels like 99 degrees. Get ready for that, because it's only February. It will be like living inside a sauna.

yeah, pretty hot I guess. But I always wear closed shoes, even in hot weather

It's not so much the heat, as it is the humidity. It's hard to bear. I'm not sure about the shoe thing on campus. Maybe you can Google up some campus pics from that school.
