Very brief reply. I am not a particular fan of Mr. Trump, though I am a Republican. Moreover, to give Mr. Trump all due credit, it was his Operation Warp Speed that resulted in the invention of the vaccine and the beginning of its distribution.

It is not clear what there is to be feeling betrayed about as regards the vaccine. Mr. Trump is in the age bracket that was to be given top priority according to Federal guidelines. Not to mention that he was President. Also, unlike perhaps yourself, you may recall that he contracted the disease.

This hardly seems like a gross betrayal of some trust. Indeed, by and large, the Biden Administration has pretty much carried out the Trump program. Mr. Biden's protestations to the contrary notwithstanding.

Finally, the American system is a Federal system. The CDC issues guidelines to the state on optimum distribution of the vaccine, but it had and has no authority to make those guidelines binding. Thus many states - see also New York - went their own way and right now, as you may have seen, teacher's unions are "jumping the line." This Mr. Biden has meekly accepted with barely a whimper.

Bluntly the country is wallowing in enough unnecessary hair pulling panic mixed with self-pity. Grow up. Put on your big boy - or big girl - pants, and get on with life. Simpering in a corner whining that the "big meanie" got his shot and you did not will not accomplish anything.

In general I am in favor of vaccines. As a biologist, I am not in favor of the current run of vaccines that are being distributed and administered under FDA emergency use authorization. I won’t take them period. That said every adult has to make their own decisions on how they run their own life. That includes Trump. He is man and can decide for himself. I don’t agree that everyone has to do the same thing and hold hands. I’m not a communist. I believe in freedom of choice, not group obedience. Different people have different risk factors, expected years left to live, lifestyles, etc. I do agree that the mark is pretty high to achieve heard immunity and that an effective vaccination program is necessary, but the current strategy isn’t proven to be effective or safe long term. If the evidence changes, then I might change my mind in time, but there are vaccines on the horizon that are based on better science and which will likely yield a better result. The first vaccines are a half-assed attempt at doing anything possible as quickly as possible to get the ball moving. I don’t jump out of planes with a pillow case and hope that it will work as a parachute even if it sort of resembles one.

Also there are several different vaccines and the Sputnik IV vaccine is nothing more than a flu vaccine to give to those who are gonna take a vaccine regardless so that they have something safe that will make them feel unafraid which is fear is more deadly than the virus. So we don't know what he took but for us to take a vaccine that is killing people in minutes and causing lifelong reactions, some which are permanently disabling would be ludacris. People are already, cautious of vaccines, especially when they come out this fast. Normally it takes years for a vaccine to be developed.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I try to be fair. I also don't go out of my way to bash the guy... I dunno. I just try to live my life independently of my feelings on him, or Obama, or Clinton, or George W Bush.

The issue of getting a vaccine, no matter who it was, as president would make some sense. Having earlier access to it doesn't bother me in and of itself. I'd assume most "elite" people would have access to things regular people don't, and if they're leaders of a country, I'd assume they'd be first pick to get whatever medical care they can. I'd assume Queen Elizabeth had access to all the vaccines in December. I'd assume Barron would also have that kind of access at, what, 15? Same with Pence. Same with George W Bush. Same with whoever.

That doesn't bother me much - there are other things that I feel are unjust, having access to a medicine that isn't publicly available for a month or two doesn't bug me, or at least, not on a level that other things do.

Another thing is (or rather was) his position. The President being incapacitated for whatever reason is not a good thing. While there are constitutional provisions to deal with such events I think everyone would agree that it's better such events do not occur.
