Cancel culture doesn’t exist in the form that most people believe it to exist in, a lot of people believe that cancel culture exists and say it lasts forever and ruins peoples careers. I believe this is true but it only extends for a certain period or moment of time before people just stop caring about the issue.

An example I’ll give of this is Ellen degenerse, I’m not sure if I spelt her name right but I don’t care if i didn’t spell her name right because she’s a horrible person.
She treats her employees like absolute shit and has an extremely big ego. I’m not gonna go into much detail since this is old news so if you’re interested feel free to do some research yourself, plenty of resources are on YouTube. She was outed for a while and her apology wasn’t well received however she still has her show and everything.
Canceling is something that happens for a period of time, but the most important thing I believe can be taken out of cancel culture is for example in the old days the majority of canceling was done by the rich and powerful so the middle class and lower class had virtually no say, if the rich said you where a witch you’re getting burned to steak no matter what. They didn’t have the power to overthrow the rich but with cancel culture now a days it’s evolved into a thing where now anybody can be canceled. The rich and influential now aren’t protected from being canceled and can now therefore be held accountable for their actions.
A good video that explains this can be found here

It really all depends on the intent from both sides. There are people who publish things to change society in demonic ways. Then you have people who are trying to protect their children from it. Then you have things tossed on your child in school '"Catcher and the Rye", but don't want you to teach anything of God in school, or not allowed to have in school. Your forced either way. Cancel Culture from what I am gathering is trying to use "morals" to cancel out something that may have shouldn't have been done from the BEGINNING. NOW that it has escalated all of a sudden it's not acceptable. Porn is everywhere on social media, you can't do anything about it. But they want to "cancel" Dr. Suess's books? This is crazy. I don't even agree with everything. But I mean, really? I don't even want to know what is next.
! ATTENTION!
"Dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen" - "Where books are burned, people will eventually be burned". These are the words of the 19th century German author Heinrich Heine, from the play Almansordin 1821-1822. Heine had no way of knowing that a century later, in May 1933, his books - considered "anti-German" - would be burned at the stake in a market in Berlin and that in a few years after that, millions of people will be gassed and cremated in German concentration camps in the name of the German spirit and purity of blood.
Cancel culture is just another form of hate. It's been going on for thousands of years and will continue to be a part of humanity well into the future. Neanderthals didn't just die out. They were canceled. The Romans canceled most of whom they conquered. The Christians canceled the Romans. The Muslims canceled the Christians. The Christians canceled the Muslims. I see nothing different here. Those who are doing the canceling today will have their ideas and culture canceled in 60 years. Enough lecturing for today. I'm off to get a beer! I hope someone cancels my tab!

"... grassroots anti-Dixie Chicks backlash. It began with thousands of phone calls flooding country-music radio stations from Denver to Nashville—calls demanding that the Dixie Chicks be removed from the stations’ playlists. Soon some of those same stations were calling for a boycott of the recent Dixie Chicks’ album and of their upcoming U. S. tour."

Did you know that the authorisation for the National Guard to intervene on Jan 6th was slow-walked by people at the Pentagon? That's what all this pearl-clutching about "cancel culture" (aka people choosing not to buy a product) is all about; to distract from the news.Does social media have the "right" to govern its own content, just as a news station does, or are they required to accept and post all points of view? How much of that is governed by "free speech", and what "kind" of free speech are we talking about? We haven't answered those questions fully yet, and even when we do, it won't satisfy everyone.
"Cancel culture" is a catch-all phrase for too many different things. And why all the fuss now? Hasn't THIS "cancel culture" idea been legal for years, and still is with certain restrictions (1964 Federal anti-discrimination act and individual state acts against protected classes): "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" ?I can see the analogy, but I wouldn't exactly call cancel culture an equivalent of purging anything and everything that is even remotely opposed to some ideology - e. g the book burning by the nazis. The most that cancel culture achieves is labelling, but try as they might, there is no purging. We are not collectively any closer to accepting the ideas forced on us. Cancel culture creates turmoil, (as if there wasn't any, but I digress..) a group of individuals might be targeted because of X, Y, Z, but that's the extent of it.
"Is “Cancel Culture” today’s equivalent of book burning?"
Yes, it is about installing totalitarian government. First you censor any speech that doesn't support the dictatorship, then you take away their means to defend themselves, then you install the dictator.
It seems like every generation has to learn the same lesson all over again (and often the hard way).
The Democrats have thrown in with totalitarianism. One by one they are trying to take away our rights. First burn our books, then take our guns, then put us in concentration camps. There many similarly but they many key differences.
Book Burnings are typically organized by a governing bodys to control the populous. A cancel mod can be formed by any one very often by people that no status to loss.
Book burning would target books and ideas and some level authors. Canceling targets people and will use anything to justify the canceling.
Book Burning with not engage with material of the Burning. Cancel mob will engage with the target inorder to document and persevere the targets wrongdoings.Keep all paper copies of it before the Internet wipes them out. I'm definitely homeschooling my kids, it's much worse now compared to when I graduated in 2018.
I mean it literally was back when Christians used to burn books. You should Google what happened to the Dixie Chicks when they spoke out against Bush Jr.
But now the far right has borrowed the term to keep trump supporters mad (and donating) about trump losing the election. The instant trump supporters stop donating is the instant the cancel culture myth is canceled..The whole idea of being against "cancel culture" is insane. Say a company did something I did not like, am I not allowed to choose where I do my business? Am I forced to go there just because I went there previously? Cancel culture is public action, it only exists and works because people DONT WANT to associate with something because of something they did. How is that bad?
Definitely not, cancel culture is way to extreme to be compared to that.
Cancel culture ruins people reputation and lives over the most ridiculous shit.
Does book burning do that?Like book burning "cancel culture" is designed to keep people ignorant & just plain stupid. Sheep incapable of thinking for themselves. That is a main reason for book burning... could not read them and form ideas different from the bleating masses.
Take Dr. Seuss for example. Racial aspects in the books. WHAT exactly are you teaching children by not allowing them to read them? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. In fact you're teaching them less than nothing. You can use these books to educate the children from a young age that the concepts in Dr. Seuss are wrong.Yes!!!
though I believe it was started for good purposes
it has ultimately become a hindrance to society
we can no longer have open dialogue about important issues...
it started as a way to give people voices
and has now become the number 1 way to remove voicesI made YT response on this today:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/ejNMqw2tgFwIt's worse because they're also destroying people's lives.
I think when they go after people their goal is to drive them to suicide.
Witch hunts are disgusting.I would say so. They dont want us to educate ourselves. They want to suppress us.
I've never read those books as kids.
Is there any credible conclusion what is so "racist" in those books? It is worse because it is not just the government that is driving it. The media and big technology companies are piling on.
I would have to agree with that assessment. I mean look at what they are doing to Dr Seuss.
Yep, that is a good parallel. The entire purpose is the subversion and destruction of culture by the communists.
Yes it is. The Left wants to erase culture. Soon, we will have to erase them. Trump's re-election would have delayed it. Now the clock is counting down.
